🇺🇸 What is right with Americans?

I do the same post every year or so. I’d invite regular readers to forgive my repetition. I still feel the same way now.

The fundamental problems is that they don’t trust each other and this is embedded in their right to bear arms, especially when you consider what it is they can actually do with those arms.

Unless you’re part of the authorities, you can’t take those arms out of the country. The only possible use that they have is for shooting people on US soil.

Yep some of them simply love their guns more than their children.
Oh the OUTRAGE if you told them that.

Apparently they re-run this every time a school shooting happens, just changing the date, location and number of fatalities.

They do indeed, it’s a running theme. It’s a clever and very effective way of making a point.

On a side note, the Canadians are showing that the issue actually can be tackled as long as the political will exists…

One of the most interesting things Michael Moore ever did was compare gun ownership in the US and Canada before comparing gun violence in the US and Canada.

Similar levels of per capita ownership. Very different countries.

That amazes me.

And still they’re set to all but abolish it. So it can be done.

I wonder if Canadians are less likely to carry guns around with them all over the place, as that would certainly make gun violence less prevalent. But even if that is the case, it’s still indicative of major differences in the two national psyches.

Canada has a safety net as well, so there’s that.

And a publicly funded health care system

Part of the safety net. Medical bills are the biggest reason for bankruptcy in the US.

Also far fewer Christian fascists

Funnily enough I had lunch yesterday with a Brit who is a doctor in St Johns, whilst not perfect their healthcare pisses all over the US and ours in many ways. Canada is so vast though distance is the enemy as taxes have to cover such a large area with few people.

This short article says more about the US and its gun obsession than any number of far lengthier ones.
