To my shame, I have to say that before today Iād only ever heard one Neko Case song - a live version of Train from Kansas City which resides on one of those CDs you get from music magazines such as Uncut. Itās a brilliant song, as are the others posted here. Seems to me that Neko Case is a singer Iād love to hear more of, so if anyone would like to recommend their favourites among her LPs, Iām all ears. Not literally of course, that would be horrible.
Hi Fowllyd,
Just remembered I didnāt get a chance to respond to this before.
Middle Cyclone is probably her most critically acclaimed album, so Iād probably start there. Furnace Room Lullaby is still my favourite though - a bit more raw and edgy.
Lou.

Iād be interested to know how you found it, Ted.
Iāve mentioned on The Other Place my complete an utter hero worship for Gillian Welch.
Miss Ohio is a masterpiece.
BTW Joey Burns, John Convertino and several others of Calexico regularly appear on her albums. She records at Wavelab Studios in Tucson, their home studio too.

How do you know Calexico, lifeintheslowlane? If you donāt mind me asking.
Feeder donāt care what anyone says they are the best thing to ever come out of Wales musically, CCR,The Who and Shergal Farkey.
No secret Lou. I stumbled across John Convertino on an Internet forum of all places around 2008.
It was totally unrelated to musicā¦we both own a 1958 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe and got into a conversation on this VW forum. Iād been into Calexico from around 1997 and had all their albums but even with his forum username, ācalexicanā I didnāt think it was related to the band. I just thought he was from the border town of the same name.
A short time later I checked out his forum profile and saw he had a link to the bandās websiteā¦again I thought maybe he ran their website so I asked him about the link. Thatās when he said who he was.
Since then weāve been in regular contactā¦car related, music related and just daily stuff. Just a really genuine guy, generous too. I had stuff for his car, he wanted to pay, I said weād tradeā¦just send me some band stuff, band sticker for the car or a T shirt. He sent me a large parcel, T shirts, calendars, CD, DVD, pro-mo stuff.
Iāve met him and the band a couple of timesā¦once at the ABC Forum gig in 2012 and their Brighton gig in 2013. So now I get on the guest list and although it doesnāt cut much ice on a Football related forumā¦I can be considered ITK for all Calexico stuff
This is the picture John sent me from Mexico City when they were recording last yearā¦heās found an album in a secondhand storeā¦it has a picture of a Karmann Ghia on the coverā¦
Joey - Amparo Sanchez - John C.
Great story lifeinthedlowlane. The internet was revolutionary if you like non mainstream music. I had similar experiences in the mid-90s. It was an exciting period.
