VVD - will he stay or will he go?

BREAKING NEWS

Virgil van Dijk has handed in a transfer request at Southampton.

A statement issued via his management company reads: “It is with regret that I can confirm that I have today handed in a transfer request to leave Southampton Football Club.

“Unfortunately I feel I have no alternative after I was given notice of the Club’s intention to impose a disciplinary sanction against me of a fine equivalent to 2 weeks wages. I will be appealing what I feel to be an unjustified sanction and their inability to follow the correct disciplinary protocol in due course.

“Over the past six months I have held numerous discussions with representatives of the board, the former manager Claude Puel as well as the new manager Mauricio Pellegrino to inform them all of my desire to leave the club in search of a new challenge.

“I am incredibly ambitious and want to achieve as much as I possibly can to fulfil my potential in what is a very short career as a professional footballer. I want to play European football again and challenge for major honours and as such I would like Southampton to consider the interest in me from top clubs should it still exist.”

The rest of the Virgil van Dijk statement reads…

“I have been left frustrated by the club’s position that I am not for sale and am disappointed that enquiries from multiple top clubs have been consistently rebuffed.

“The period of time that I have just spent injured and unable to play has put a number of things into perspective and made me realise just how important it is to take major opportunities should they arise.

“I have consistently relayed my feelings to senior management at Southampton in what I believed to be private and personal conversations. Disappointingly, these conversations have regularly found their way into the media.

“I would also like to make clear that I have never once refused to train. I can confirm that I was asked about my frame of mind and for all of the reasons mentioned above I was open and honest in saying that I did not feel I was in a settled mindset given the circumstances.

“Following this conversation the manager explained that he only wanted players who he felt were 100% committed to Southampton and told me I would therefore have to train away from the first team.

“As a proud professional I am insulted by the suggestion that it was me who refused to train and so feel it is important to point out the true version of events.”

As disingenuous and cuntish statement as I think I’ve Ever Read. Almost every line annoyed me. I tell you what tho, with a fkn victim complex like that, I know where he’d fit in perfectly…

What are all of these conversations that he has had with the club that have found their way into the press?

So perhaps he should knuckle down, show a professional attitude to the due process of working to his lengthy contact, to see if ths new found attitude will attract a buyer.

Like most of us he is an employee…very rarely in these circumstances does the tail wag the dog.

I think he means the Liverpool Echo. Via his own agent…

I spose a Transfer Request makes selling the cunt a no-brainer from a Financial Point Of View. I’d prob do that, and then send the full dossier of his back-door blackpool meetings to the FA as a final Fuck You. I seem to remember Ashley Cole got a nice fine out of it, when he done similar.

So let me just get a few things straight Virgil…

In February, when you were 6 months in to a new 6 year deal which undoubtedly came with a bumper pay rise, when you were freshly appointed as captain, and not long after being crocked for the remainder of the season - you informed the club that you wanted to leave?

Wow. You are even more of a bell-end than I previously gave you credit for.

Also, well done on the timing of all of this. You’ve been sulking (call it whatever you want sweetheart) and posturing on Instagram for about 6 weeks but all of a sudden, 5 days before the start of the season you decide to FINALLY submit written confirmation of your desire to seek pastures new and scouse. Only once it was made abundantly clear to you that you would be held to your contract and that you had no way of getting your move AND taking your ‘loyalty’ bonuses or sign on fees. You’re a greedy arse hole.

Don’t give me that shit about a short career. If you lived responsibly you could retire tomorrow and never have to work another day in your life. But heaven forbid you drive something that isn’t a Bentley or fly anywhere not on a private jet. When you retire, you won’t be straight off to the hospice mate. You are more than welcome to get yourself a coaching/management/punditry job like the rest of them. Or how about a regular old shitty job like the rest of us?

If your statement is anything to go by you could certainly give it a go as a fiction writer. Tragedy being your go to genre of course. Poor little Virgil.

There you go, I have even come up with your first title for you - “Poor Little Virgil: The tragic plight of the 26 year old multi-millionnaire nob head”.

Guess he won’t feature in Saturday’s team sheet then.

I trust Saints have got a good employment law advisor. In any other job That’s the sort of statement that’d get you the immediate sack for gross misconduct He’d be out on his ear with no job…oh, wait

:lou_facepalm_2:

Very clever VVD, very clever…twat.

Ah 'tis true…pehaps we should appeal to Vardy to top-up his meagre wedge to make life a little easier.

Time for all Saints fans to have a whipround to build a statue in honour of Jamie Vardy

Who also deserves a standing ovation when he next plays at SMS

Come on, fess up. Whoever photoshopped this to cut out Les with the gun pointed at VVD’s head needs to come forward and apologise. That job security and pay rise was clearly accepted only under duress.

SAINTS HOLDING FIRM

Sky sources understand **Southampton’s ** position remains unchanged despite Virgil van Dijk’s transfer request.

The Saints do not want to sell the Netherlands international.

I’m OK with this. A transfer request is just that. A request(like slippy Gerrard asking for Phil Collins. No need to take it seriously). We can still refuse(we hold his registration, so he can’t play anywhere in the world for 5 years if we say no).

If we decide to sell, i’m still ok with it, as long as we take the Alex Ferguson route(anyone but those scouse cunts). That case went to court and Liverpool lost. Holding his registration makes us God, at least as far as his football career goes.

Let’s play at being God :lou_lol:

I would even be ok with Everton, just because it would wind the Liverpool fans up for years to come(they would have to agree to doing a big “welcome to Liverpool” sign).

Yep, it’s a short career Virgil. Too short to be spending your time looking the prize cunt in the under 23’s eh?

Fuck you. I hope you get bum cancer you cunt.

edit: I’m over it now. Let him rot for a year then sell the prick to anyone but Liverpool.
