I do like a sherbet lemon
I’m feelin it Fatso… In true 80s parlance, I might do him for free as I think he is ‘lush’
We all love VD
Your mate isn’t Sadio Mane is he? Sadio knows what an asshat is.
@Virgilvdijk have you handed in a transfer request yet?
Greedy Cunt
You know what the stupidest thing about this whole saga is? We probably would have been happy to sell VVD to Liverpool for £60Mn or so if they had just gone about it through the proper channels. It would simply be another case of we-want-the-money-more-than-the-player and they-want-the-player-more-than-the-money.
We could be in the middle of spending the Van Dijk cash on rebuilding our squad, and they could be integrating their new marquee signing in their first XI with neither club really losing too much face.
Now, purely thanks to them being wankers about it - both clubs have to more-or-less go through the stupid motions of them trying to look like they had other targets anywhere near Virgil’s quality, us trying to look like we’re actually willing to let a £60-70Mn asset rot for 5 years with the money floating away into the ether, all whilst Liverpool try and play innocent and we try and look like we’re no longer a selling club and are actually willing to put our foot down.
Its literally all down to the stupidity and arrogance within Liverpool FC. And that’s assuming the transfer does eventually go through.
Yet the manager wants to keep him and we heard from an ITKer that his sale hadn’t been factored in to the budget. Here’s a thought. What if we had planned to keep him for another year all along?
I bet you do!
I really hope your right. I really, really hope you’re right. I just can’t see it annoyingly enough.
I want some sherbet lemons as well to take the taste away
A course of antibiotics is what we need that will get rid of VD.
You’re so Old School … I bet you feel the urge to suck on a Fisherman’s Friend everytime you feel a sore throat coming on
I think the the 'amount is a big factor though as is a formal transfer request. He has 5 years on his contract. I would guess he must be on 80k a week or so. Over 5 years that would around 20mil so what would we be able to negotiate that downtown to ensure we don’t lose a huge chunk the transfer free straight to the player?
high quality players will always be in high demand and will want to go if they see a short cut to success and higher earnings… We can’t do anything about that. But for me it’s the impact of the transfer window has on planning and more parathion for a new season - personally I think it start May 1st and close July 15. So sides have at least a month to get players embedded before the season starts and you get none of the shitty stuff of losing players after the start of the season when if clubs realise they dropped a bollock…
It would reduce the time spent on pissing about with tap ups and gossip and just get the deals done… Too much fucking talk and not enough action is typical of the Windows and just messes with everyone’s plans…
So, a week on from VvD’s head not being in the right place, has he managed to get it out of Klippity Klopps arsehole yet and see sense and smell the coffee ?
Hopefully coming to a cinema near you soon, sorry I mean a Social Media Network soon …
Plastic scouse cunt #1 :- hey la, laughing my arse off at all those Southampton Bedwetters! Have you ever seen such a pathetic bunch of losers having such a drama queen like meltdown? That Dick Van Dyke is as good as ours. Nobody could resist joining The Mighty Reds … it’s our year la.
Plastic scouse cunt #2, having just seen that VvD has decided to stay with us, Keita is staying at Leipeg and Countinho is on his way to Barca … here lad … hold my beer a minute …
If he gets transferred, with or without a transfer request, we won’t owe him a penny in salary. We’d only have to pay up his contract (or negotiate a payment of that type) if we wanted to get rid of him and no other club wanted him. That was wha happened with Osvaldo. It doesn’t work that way with transfers.
Not sure its that simple Fowllyd as if we terminate his contract he is entitled to a pay out. If the contrat is transferedthn most likely not. I suspect it will be dependent on the clauses and nature of transaction. As he will go to a new contract on improved terms, there might be less of an issue, but why is there and assumption he is being a ‘greedy cunt’ by not putting in a transfer request? I always assume that what he woudlNOT get is his loyalty bonus and that he woudl still be owed a fair whackof his contrcat as we ae potentially terminating it against his ‘wil’ to make money from a transfer… eg He does not want to leave (Officially) and as such is entitled to a payout asper his contract?
But what sense does it make to get him to sign and extended contract and pay him m ore money of the plan was to see him this summer anyway. Surely we coud have saved ourselves a lot of money? I guess those who dont trust the Board will assume that he was always going to be sold and those that do will assume that the plan was to keep him for another year. If he was going to be sold to Liverpool why not just do it when the story broke instead of digging in our heels?
My understanding is that the only monies Saints would be liable for is a loyalty bonus. This would usually be paid to a player who sees out his contract. If Saints agree to terminate the contract (ie the player doesn’t formally request a transfer) then this is paid. Hence players are reluctant to request transfers.
I would think that Saints would allow for this when negotiating a fee from the buying club.
I can’t see that Saints would need to ‘pay up’ the contract. The buying club are ‘buying out’ the contract by offering the player improved terms. We would only pay up a contract in agreement with a player moving to a lesser contract eg at the end of career.
That’s my view anyway.
edit: it has been suggested on the Ugly that the loyalty bonus is £7million. Add this to Celtic’s cut and £60 odd million start’s to look less brill.
Well, that was lucky. I didn’t have a Pofertjee on me when he tried to apologise. (As in wtf?)
He didn’t want a pint of Amstel in lieu. Said it tasted even worse.
This is how I understand it, otherwise every player would be agitating for a move in every window
Yes, that’s my understanding. If VvD leaves in this window the most we’d have to pay him is a loyalty bonus. There’s a galaxy-sized irony in there, but then that’s football contracts for you.
If it were the case that getting a player to sign a long contract would then make you liable for that player’s salary for the whole contract term should he be transferred, then clubs wouldn’t do it.
