šŸ“¹ VAR - what's going on?

He wa stood right in front of it. He couldn’t have had a better view if he’d paid for it. Shocker of a ā€œchallengeā€ and a red all day long.

Quite. I get a bit sick of managers using the stock ā€œI didn’t see the incidentā€ card, particularly when as you say, he really couldn’t have not seen it. I bet if it had been one of his players getting his leg snapped he’d have fucking seen that.

How the f did Walcott not get a penalty for that tackle

Fuck knows.

Even the taters were laughing at that one

Interesting that Walcott said it wasn’t a penalty.

To me that felt like a somewhat diplomatic response rather than taking the stance the interviewer was fishing for. Tempered by the post-match buzz perhaps? Had we lost/drawn, he may well have said the opposite.

Possibly. But he brushed it off very quickly.

True. I’m not saying I wasn’t surprised by his response mind you!

They played it again last night from a different angle in the post match chat and it looks like the defender got a touch on the ball onto Walcott’s leg. I was convinced it was a pen but after watching this particular clip I have to say, no pen.

Good news this - will hopefully end the shirt sleeve offside calls

Cant they just make it simply by saying its the front foot that is the marker only?

I’m sorry but I don’t understand what difference that is going to make, no matter the width of the line there will still be the issue where the attacker’s line is marginally in front of the defender’s line.

What they should do is :-

  • Make the lines thicker
  • Centre them on the forward points on the attacker and defender
  • If there’s space between the lines then they’re offside.
  • Simples.

Isnt that a misprint?
Thicker Vars are going to do lines, surely
