Not so long ago we were convinced that the Earth was flat, and at the centre of the universe. Now we talk in terms of quantum particles composed only of energy waves, and time as flexible rather than linear.
It would certainly require a major change in our understanding of physics. My qualifications are in Chemistry but I took a year of Physics at Cambridge and by my current understanding there is no way any living system can survive a journey of several light-years.
