Off the cats, back onto Tories. There’s a great piece by John Harris in the Guardian about how this is the beginning of the end for David Cameron, in which he also talks about the essential emptiness of Cameronian ideology.

He is done. His behaviour over the referendum has been nothing short of appalling. It is just as well he isn’t standing again.

So sanctions don’t encourage people back to work?! Who knew eh?

I just looked up some stuff on jsa sanctions and the government page was all “something for nothing culture”. I can’t read more as I’d like my blood pressure to be lower.

I think a lot of us did, but my council estate perspective bears into this. Income support has never been super-generous, so people have always found ways of making money on the side. Those that are savvy enough will just do more of the same, perhaps expanding criminal activities into the bargain, creating strain on fhe criminal justice system.

Those that aren’t have to go to foodbanks.

I cannot imagine the stress of having no money, and having to find cash for building rent arrears is going to be conducive to finding employment.

Having no money not an incentive to work shocker. Just shows the work shy scumbags we have in this country.

Morning, Cherts.

I’m not making excuses for that lifestyle. Just pointing out that there is a fair bit of black economy that goes on anyway, and that what you think is a saving drives events that cost a lot more.

Cool. Can’t really disagree with that.

See, there are some decent Tories out there

Dorries, a long-time critic of Osborne and David Cameron, revealed recently she has already formally demanded the PM face a leadership challenge.

On ITV’s Peston on Sunday two weeks ago, she said the Prime Minister had “lied profoundly” during the EU referendum campaign.

In order to trigger a no confidence vote in Cameron, 50 Tory MPs have to write letters to the chairman of the Conservative Party’s backbench 1922 committee.

She has also previously labelled Cameron and Osborne “arrogant posh boys” who do not understand the lives of ordinary people.

“Unfortunately I think that not are only Cameron and Osborne two posh boys who don’t understand the price of milk,” she said.

“They are two arrogant posh boys who show no remorse, no contrition and no passion to want to understand the lives of others - and that is their real crime.”

31 Tory MPs being investigated for electoral fraud.

A majority of 12.

New Prime Minster by 2nd September

I can just see Alex Salmond now " A Prime-minister we didn’t elect, leading a government we didn’t elect who proposed a referendum we didn’t want, is now proposing to take our country out of Europe against the will of the scottish people"

Hunt is considering running for the top job :lou_surprised:

Has he seen how many voters are employed by the NHS? They hate him

It’s a strange one for Hunt. He is popular within his own party, and was also relatively popular with the electorate prior to the NHS debacle.

If May runs, I think she may win.

Jeremy Hunt?? :astonished:

I don’t think so.

OK, so after much thought, and a little bit of a volte face, I am going to be throwing my support behind Theresa May. I think she’d be best to heal the party, and certainly best to lead us through the turbulent times that are coming.

She looks like a female Emperor Palpatine.
