:tories: Tories in trouble?

We can’t fucking decide on Europe at the moment so perhaps we should leave the whole galaxy question for another year or two.

I’d like to see how they’d phrase the referendum question on that one.

And for that matter, the arguments for and against leaving the planet.

as a rock giant once sang - atmosphere, I love a planet with a happy atmosphere.

This amused me and probably fits in the Tory thread (even though it is, I guess, American, given they call biscuits ‘cookies’)

6 days and the Tories aren’t in trouble in all that time?

I wonder if I should put some of these things in the ‘shit ideas’

Apparently there wil be someone to look at all mental health issues but she was quite independent and challenging. Shame.

I don’t think their #VoteConservative hashtag is going as well as they planned on Twitter.

How are people supposed to produce nationality documents if they are under arrest? And, what if you have no documents proving your nationality? What then?

You sit in prison forever? I know people with no passports. They may also have lost their birth certificate but that’s possibly not enough evidence as Juat a bit of paper. So is this another chance to bring in ID cards?

Good. Can think of another thread where the idea itself should have gone.

This must go down as one of the worst budgets in history - what a clusterfuck.

On the up side at least good sense has prevailed.

The worry though is that the idea factory still exists, still churning out crap policy. How much of their spending depended on the inevitable selling off of public assets, such as school grounds?

Whatever. Once again, they’ve demonstrated that they’re totally out of touch with public opinion. The South no longer believes that austerity is necessary either.

Isn’t it weird how all these tories are now saying how awful Zac Goldsmith’s campaign was. Where were they before? :lou_facepalm_2:

Right behind him helping him plan it.

Sayeeda Warsi reckons Goldsmith isn’t like that at all, but has allowed himself to have his campaign usurped by these little demons.

I read another quote from a senior MP saying that they would have had a more productive campaign if they simply concentrated on attacking Corbyn.

Says it all really. Where’s the fucking policy people might like to vote for, chaps?

I saw Iain Duncan-Smith on the TV this morning in my London hotel so I shouted abuse at him.

Two hours later I saw, through the glass of the side windows, Iain Duncan-Smith in a riverside bar close to parliament.

It would have been immature to do an impression of him limply punching the air as he did in that debate - so I did.

I also thought it was hypocritical to slag him off on the telly if I wasn’t brave/childish enough to do it to his face, so I shouted insults from across the road as we walked by too.

I consider this a very small victory for the man on the street.

For once, I’m going to defend Cameron.

Are Nigeria and Afghanistan two of the most corrupt countries in the world? According to this list, Afghamnistan certainly is and Nigeria isn’t that great http://www.ranker.com/list/the-most-corrupt-countries-in-the-world/info-lists?page=2

BUT, if you listen to the conversation in this report (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-36264475) they actually go on to discuss the new president of Nigeria and what he is trying to do to tackle corruption. Context, it would seem, is everything.

The BBC have been desperately try to fan the flames with this “fantastically corrupt” comment. On R5L they were using the words “gaffe” and “controversy”. They interviewed an afgan official who is attending these Corruption talks hoping to get some outrage - but the chap turned around and said DC is absolutely correct and we welcome his comments. Needless to say the interview didn’t last long.

When someone can make a list of the 100 most politically corrupt countries in the world, and not include the UK and the USA – it makes me question how they arrive at their conclusions.
