BREAKINGWright to stay off air in ‘solidarity’ with Lineker

Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright has said in the last few minutes he won’t be appearing on the show tomorrow night.

“Everybody knows what Match of the Day means to me, but I’ve told the BBC I won’t be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity,” he tweeted.

Fucking joke that.

Should have gone when he said “Bin Corbyn” ahead of the 2017 general election.

At least that way they’d have a presenting MoTD tomorrow.

The main issue I have with Lineker and MotD is his salary, which is plain daft for the job he does

His agent must be absolutely mega

There are plenty of perfectly adequate presenters out there who can do the job just as well and would be delighted to do so for a quarter of what he gets

After all it’s just old blokes chatting shit about football

Alan shearer stepped back as well which is another £400k pa saved

Bloody good yakka this punditry business

Lineker is the only host of MoTD my youngest daughter has ever known.

Wright and Shearer not appearing on tomorrow’s show either.

This will do the Tories far more harm than good.

The way it’s going there’ll be nobody presenting MoTD on Saturday

Some would say that’s a blessing.

It won’t

No one is going to sit there wailing that there very most favourite sports presenter is missing when their team has lost or won 4 ni

I refuse to believe that @pap would sire a Tory. :rage:

BBC has scored a massive own goal here. Making Lineker a martyr is really fucking stupid. They are as inept as the useless fat scarecrow who put plants on the board. Shower of fucking shite.

Can’t agree. I remember the fuss over the passing of the torch last time. Change of MOTD presenter is a big thing in its own right.

Was handled carefully last time. This is something else.

From the BBC

  • BBC Sport understands a number of players from various clubs have contacted the Professional Footballers Association to say they may want to show solidarity with Lineker and Match of the Day pundits over the impartiality row

Comedy gold
