:tories: Tories in trouble?

Boris Johnson: ‘As far as I’m aware’ ex-KGB agent and I did not discuss government business

Where have we heard that before???

As far as I’m aware, there were no parties in Downing Street

And I cannot believe that some people want this twat back as PM

That’s a great excuse. It’s not like the KGB wear alumni pins.

Wait til you try to sleep tonight :+1::+1::smile:

I’m not surprised that Boris thinks a comeback is realistic given the state of the final two. Rumours are he’s a Truss man because if she fucks it up and there’s a general election on the horizon, the MPs might shit themselves.

Once he’s gone he’s gone, they won’t have him back.

No chance - he is toxic - I can understand why the opposition would love it - even I will be voting for them if he does

This is just fanboy Cruddas clinging on to his broken dreams

Well, it’s not a very inspiring “choice” left. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think Labour have anything about them either. There is nothing worth voting for.

The Guardian reckons that Sunak is going to suddenly take an interest in the culture war to get himself over the line. Maybe we should direct him to our “Are you a woke bloke?” thread.

If truss does will and shits the bed - I think the Tories will accept a term in opposition - they could probably do with it to knock the complacency out of them

Sunak’s response to what he would have liked to do if he hadn’t been a politician. Fills me with terror.

"In another life, he said if he could run Southampton Football Club he would be “a very happy man”.

That would have been handy for transfers with his billionaire missus not paying any UK tax for years.

Serbian mafia.

It looks like it might be about to kick off in Serbia/Kosovo too. Wonder if that is going to have implications for our wallet.

I can’t believe it, that’s usually such a peaceful area. :unamused::grin:

Lady Slowlane and I got our voting papers yesterday. Lady Slowlane has already made her mind up and to be truthful so have I.

Lady Slowlane was so taken with the Liz Truss Thatcher blouse that she’s bought 5 (one for every weekday). She does think Liz cuts such a statesman like image wearing it so gets her vote.

I, on the other hand have taken a more pragmatic attitude to such an important vote and I’m voting for Richi as he’s a Saints supporter.

We listened to both arguments on the economy but in the end couldn’t separate either candidate on their standings as they only affect poor people.

I hope that helps allay any fears that us Tories aren’t taking this important vote seriously.

Watched it last night.

It really is the tragedy of the Tories. Of the two, Sunak clearly has more of a clue, but he is persona non grata with the membership because he helped oust the serial philanderer and liar after they got Pinchered.

Both of these cretins stuck by him for lie after lie, with the rat Sunak finally deducing the ship was sinking years later.

Honestly not sure either of them is an improvement. At least Boris was entertaining.

Fucking hell. Take back what I said about Sunak being the sharper operator.

Difficult to disagree with Zac Goldsmith.

If this was a general election campaign I would agree with you, it would be an extraordinarily dumb thing to say. But it’s not is it, both him and Mary Truss are pitching their wares to just 150,000 Tory Party members, they are both trying to outdo each other with crazy, far right little Little Englander policies to deal with the ongoing shitshow of news coming in on a daily basis. Making it up on the hoof. They both know that this far right libertarian bollocks is red meat to a large number of Party members, they lap it up. They’re the only ones they have to concern themselves with. There are a few chapters in 'Britannia Unchained, (authors - Truss, Raab, Sunak, Patel, Kwarteng), dealing with this. How the country is being dragged down by differentiating between rich and poor areas, North v South. Open it all up, slash taxes, regulations on business, stop, or drastically reduce welfare payments which will get the idlers back to work. No sacred cows when it comes to privatisation. Tear up all lefty/ European regulations regarding environmental protection, workers rights. Sunak’s chilling proposal to refer people denigrating, ie criticizing the UK, ie the Government, to their anti-terrorism programme comes right out of the BU playbook. It’s estimated that the Tories have a hard core bedrock of come what may support of around 30%. The rest is divided between half a dozen or so other parties, so under our FPTP system that’s all they need, especially after they’ve cracked on with their plans to introduce voter ID, gerrymandering of constituencies etc which will have the desired effect of further downgrading democracy. This country is rapidly descending into a dark place, and people are now getting immune to the lies and bullshit, the naked, self serving greed on display from our so called leaders and their sponsors. It’s just the new normal. Sleepwalking into God knows what horrors these bastards have up their sleeves for us all. It’s depressing.
And I’m sorry, but when otherwise sensible, switched on people find Boris Johnson’s tenure as Prime Minister of this country “entertaining”, it goes a long way to explaining why the country is in the state it’s in.
