Beautiful, just beautiful.

Eddie Mair take a bow.

That’s the sort of deeply cynical and high-pressure political interviewing we need to expose this shower of shit.

Him and Andrew Neil are the only two I’ve seen doing their job properly since May announced she was off.

Just fund services, increase services, pay people a living wage etc etc etc.

This pensions thing at 75 is a real fucking vote loser. As in universal.

Well done Boris.

I cannot wait to be a 70 year old social worker. Trying to get alongside some gang kid or, you know, doing direct work with a 5 year old using play, on the floor. Not sure I will be able to afford new hips to be able to do that.
Going to smash it.

Well, it only presently applies to people aged 42 and under.

Presently.

Ask the WASPI ladies.

Yeah, I don’t trust 'em.

The pension thing is a real conundrum

In thirty years time there is ever chance you could be retired longer than you work

I cannot see how people can save enough (assuming the actually bother) to build up a pot big enough to cover that. When the state pension was introduced you were only expected to last a few years post sixty five so the maths worked. Today, not so much.

That said working to 75 does suck balls. But then surely you would change careers to a less demanding role?

As a 60 year old who spent 6 months trying to get any sort of job that would actually pay enough to feed 2 people I rather object to such a broad statement of find a different job…
Ageism is as real as racism

Ain’t that the truth. I took early severance at the age of 47 with a good pay-off wedge and a preserved pension. My wife had a good job so no real pressure to find full time employment but after 6 months you feel guilty and start to look for a full/part time job.
One job appeared in local government and my CV was a perfect match. I would like to think there were none better suited in the world (for practical experience) so I applied. However there was no way in the application I could cover my age. I didn’t even get an interview. I should have insisted they see me and then tell them to stick their job where the sun don’t shine but hey would you want to work for someone who wanted to fill the post with someone will a poorer CV but fitted their age profile.

Where have you heard this?
It seems rather far fetched.
As far as i know life expectancy in Britain has started to decline.

It’s going up where i live

Unless you are a drug dealer

As have a few places, even that supposed failing state(remember all the headlines) Russia.
The Tories will always bring the average age down, as they only look after a very small percentage of people. Advances in science will never keep pace with their cuts and sell offs.

Over time it will become a norm and more accepted - doesn’t help you now

It not far off

In any case you can expect 25 years post retirement of life expectancy and I can bet that in the 40 years you were chipping is not going to be enough to cover living expenses including the care that you will invariably need

You got some figures for that

I think your figures are optimistic.

Average life expectancy of 90, really? Sardinia maybe but not here.

I don’t expect to live to 90 and if the system is not fit for purpose, that’s the fault of those in power. We used to have a pension system that worked and still could.
How do you know i’ll need care? Payed in all my life and apart from a visit when i developed Tinitus, i haven’t been to the doctor’s since i was 8, so following the rule of self(Tory policy) i’ve built up quite a kitty if needed
Things need to change, but as usual we’re looking at all wrong.
