:tories: Tories in trouble?

I think it’s difficult to get numbers as so many charities are helping out as the state appears to not try to get a handle on it. A recent article which shows some under 18s have died. I read a 17 year old died of a cardiac issue. If he’d been screened properly and supported he would probably be alive.

Yipe.

Perhaps this chap should defect to UKIP.

A local Conservative official has been suspended from the party after retweeting a message aimed at the Labour MP Diane Abbott that has been described as racist.

Alan Pearmain, the deputy chairman of the South Ribble Conservative Association and a parish councillor, shared a tweet in December that portrayed Abbott, the shadow home secretary, as an ape wearing lipstick who should be in a zoo.

Pearmain added a comment to the original post reading: “Nice lips kid. But a shade too much rouge.”

I presume, and please correct me if I’m wrong, that you wanted the U.K. To remain in the EU. So you want to remain wedded to the French who “cuntishly” watch children die?

But here’s my take on it. If somebody has to flee a war zone, they’re a refugee. Once they’re in a safe country, they’re safe. If they want to leave one safe country for another, they become an economic migrant. Please explain how that is wrong.

Not having a go, but it’s dramatic license like this which is contributing to the fake news rubbish.

I think that, as a forum, we need to ensure that the claims we are putting forward, the turn of phrase we are using etc is relevant and in context to what we are debating.

I get the racist connotations, but it probably doesn’t help that an ape could do a similar job to her.

As long as that country is happy to take them, yes I agree.

You’re wrong about my wishes for Europe. Thanks for asking.

I agree with the principle(not the reality) of your take on it, but i don’t class children as economic migrants in any situation. To be honest, i pity anyone that does. Children, people need to remember we are talking about children.

Apologies, i should have said, i’m sure but too lazy to look.

That would have been honest.

P.S it was correct though, wasn’t it? Still to lazy to check :lou_smiley:

Health Tourism - The latest Tory buzz words to help kill the NHS!

Ok this story has been knocking around for a few weeks, but I have done some research on it, and it does not add up!

The Tories claim that “health tourism” costs about £2 billion per year and that new rules will claw back £500 million. None of this adds up. The 2 billion figure comes from a government commissioned study from 2013. It includes many people who are already being made to pay for treatment. Some are from European countries where governments reimburse the NHS. The government claimed £40 million back in 2015.

As well as paying tax, workers and students from outside Europe now face a £200 “health surcharge” on arrival. This raised £164 million last year. People do fall ill while on holiday, but mostly they spend money. Foreign tourists spent £22 billion in Britain last year, swamping any costs assochaited with their healthcare.

The government conjures images of people flocking into Britain to fleece the NHS. But it’s study noted that “empirical knowledge on the magnitude and effect of health tourism is lacking”.

Its best guess of migrants “taking advantage” of the system was between £110 million and £280 million a year - just 0.3 percent of NHS budget.

Someone is really draining the NHS… but health tourism is not the issue.

Tory cuts £22 billion - To be snatched away in “efficiency savings” by 2020 in England alone. These take the form of 44 regional sustainability and transformation plans (STPs) of closures and cutbacks.

Loan sharks £2 billion - a year goes to service PFI loans to private banks and construction firms.

Understaffing chaos £3.7 billion - was wasted last year on drafting in expensive ‘locum’ staff to work on wards whose regular workforce has been cut to the bone.

Profiteers £8.7 billion - of last years NHS budget went to private contractors. They cream off cash for their profits, bonuses, share divedends, advertising - and to lobby for yet more contracts.

**Big Pharma billions ** - of the NHS prescription budget goes straight to giant drug firms. One 2014 study showed that over £2 billion went on expensive branded drugs even when cheaper “generics” were available, often at tenth of the price.

Fat cats - billions - go into given those at the top of NHS bodies pay packages to rival corporate executives. University hospitals of Leicester trust chief executive John Alder took the biscuit with a total pay package of £490,000 last year.

Non-residents 2 billion - goes on care that can be charged for under migration rules. The £70 million of this attributed to deliberate health tourism is to small to see!

For anyone who fancies showing their support for our wonderful NHS.

Last one for now on the NHS. But a big topic at the moment. Me and other Labour Party members in Carlisle will be attending this… not sure if any of you lot will make it ha ha, but all over the country it is time to support the NHS, no matter how little, or we will lose it!

Just one more on the Tories… as I am still digesting my breakfast.

Theresa May claims the Tories stand for everyone, not just the privileged few. But Ronald Coyne doesn’t seem to have got the message.

The university of Cambridge’s Consevative Association was forced to throw him out after he burned a £20 note in front of a homeless man. But maybe Coyne was just following tradition. Burning a £50 note in front of a homeless man is an initiation ceremony for people to get into Oxford University’s Bullingdon Club. Former members include ex PM Cameron and foreign secretary Johnson!

Yeah, that’s a cuntish thing to do.

He should pay the homeless man the money to do a dance for him or shine his shoes.

Jokes, obvs.

“Wonderful” NHS?

If it’s so fucking wonderful why don’t other countries move towards our model. Why aren’t German , Spainish ,Ausses , French or American people rising up and demanding that their governments move their health service to a 1950’s retro model?

Arf. Missed you on the UKIP thread. @lord-duckhunter .

The answer is money and political lobbying.

I expect any that’s lost loved ones because of the lack of either would have probably enjoyed our system.

I suspect the people who lost loved ones in mid staffs might disagree that the NHS is " the envy of the world". France ,that’s even more leftie than you ,don’t seem to want to run their health service On a 1950’s model so I don’t see why we have to. I’ve used health provision in Spain , Greece, USA & France and ours is on a par with Greece, way below the service I received in the other 3 countries

This the same retro model that was deemed as better than Germany, Australia, France, America (also Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden & Switzerland) as recently as 2014 by a US based research body?

The same study also showed that the NHS provides all the for the 2nd lowest spending per capita out of all these countries?

But yes, I bet as Americans are literally pushed out of hospitals into the street for not having any/the right insurance or are bankrupted due to charges despite being fully insured are thanking their lucky stars they don’t have to suffer the NHS.
