One hundred years ago, people were overthrowing the Romanov dynasty and hundreds of years of autocratic rule, and this is in a country which got out of serfdom much much later than everyone else. I wonder what these people, that set the course of history despite all the odds, would make of the paralysis you describe.
they would prob say, wow, what gr8 lives you lot have, why are you moaning? Come see us when half of you is starving to death. Besides, Iâm pretty sure it was out of frying pan into fire, for them poor cunts.
The numbers (of refugee children) we can take in are based on local authoritiesâ capacity.
Well maybe her government could fund local authorities properly. Allegedly childrenâs social care budgets arenât cut but they are, the work is increasing, but there is no extra cash and the support services lose funding and fold. Due to their cuts to benefits, council housing etc⌠we are dealing with more homeless famlies and having to support them. We arenât spending money on systems and they are failing families.
The government does not want to incentivise children to make the perilous journey to the UK.
This is just laughable that itâs incentivising them. I do think that the UK should be encouraging our EU partners to be implemnting their child protection proceedures. I cannot understand how any child is out on their own in any of the countries in 2017. No children should be in tents in Calais on their own. Itâs truely and utterly appalling. I am being polite about this.
Rudd emphasised the point that child refugees in The Region (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran) are the most vulnerable, and by helping child refugees in Europe we are encouraging trafficking
Sorry but I think trafficking will carry on as long as there are desperate people fleeing wars.
I saw someone on twitter say to someone âoh you leftie, why donât you take 10 refugees in thenâ. Well I would happily take a kid in, if given the support they would need for the trauma they have endured. And guess what, our child mental health services arenât all theyâre cracked up to be due to ⌠lack of funding. So people are unlikely to get that much needed support.
Discovered the other day my blood pressure is up. Is it any wonder. Bloody angry.
No children should be in tents in Calais on their own.
No they shouldnât be, but surely this is a French issue rather than ours. Iâve no doubt had they been in tents waiting in NI to get to Eire, youâd be blaming the UK government not the Republics. France is a safe country, properous country. Instead of hitting out at the uk government how about hitting out at the people allowing this, the French?
Safe for white people, perhaps. France has never been as good as us at immigration. Theyâre heading into a Presidential election in which the National Front could win. Besides, we bear a much greater degree of responsibility for creating the crisis. France didnât get involved in Iraq, for example - famously attracting the cheese-eatinâ surrender monkey tag from the Americans.
France _did _get involved in Libya, so like us, theyâre responsible for the refugees that have made the trip from the African interior.
So, be evil because others are? Thatâs a terrible argument. Itâs at times of need that good people need to stand up, whilst the selfish just point at other selfish people and say, theyâre doing nothing, why should we.
Youâre condoning leaving children abandoned because another country does it. Are we to copy the worst of each country now?
I donât give a fuck how cuntish the french are. We used to applaud saving children remember.
Seriously amazed that youâre prepared to watch children die just because the french are.
Before the bit you quoted I said the UK should be encouraging the other countries to implement their child protection procedures for these children. Not just France but any county that has legislation around lone childredn/trafficked children etc.In the UK our legislation says that when we become aware of a child in need we have a duty to assess and provide support where necessary.
All of these counties (including ours) should also follow the UNHCR 1951 Refugee Convention.
When I say encouraged I mean really pushing them to be more responsible for these kids. I have tried to get a grip of the legislation abroad but find it difficult to get a clear picture.
