:tories: Tories in trouble?

The railway one can not be about safety, as union members work on other tracks where the drivers shut the doors.

Hehe. Are you really comparing the likes of Merseytravel with the Southern railways situation?

Thameslink and Govia Thameslink Railways operate driverless trains - they had that incident where the driver refused to open the doors and drove an empty train from London to gatwick and back

A driverless train where the driver refused to open the door and then drove it to Gatwick and back…

No I’m comparing GTR (Southern’s owners) running 1800 of their 3,000 daily services as driver only(manned by the union) already and the fact that Thameslink run similar stock on the same track with union men operating driver only trains. Surely even a leftie like you should question this “safety” pony.

I see Labour are hammering the ÂŁ4.6 billion in cuts to social care made in the last Parliament via Twitter.

Pretty easy to not give a fuck eh?

Mrs G was over the moon last week when the number of (already) discharged patients occupying hospital beds at the General fell to 100.

That’s 100 beds being taken up because there is nowhere for the patient to go (or at the very least no funding yet in place).

Welcome to hotel NHS.

And incidentally, 100 beds is viewed as excellent.

Something to think about when you’re next waiting on a trolley.

And there is a percentage of the population who can’t grasp austerity and think that those 100 beds are occupied by foreigners - mainly because people tell them that.

Currently the bane of my working life :lou_sad: We work so hard to get these patients discharge ready, only for them to sit in a hospital bed for 3 weeks waiting for a package of care or a new nursing home.

My parents are constantly quizzing me on how many foreigners I have to treat, and if they are clogging up the system. When I tell them it is a tiny percentage they get all skeptical on me as if I’m covering something up. I can only speak for the unit I work on of course, but then again the number of foreigners we have to treat is not really a conversation me and my colleagues from other units tend to have.

I overheard an ex colleague trying to get her uncle out of hospital back home and it seemed pretty hard. He was well enough but what was to be put in place at home. He had carers at home. She fought pretty hard.

Lots of factors involved I think. Closure of nursing homes, closure of rehabilitation units, carers getting a rough deal which I can’t imagine helps recruitment. Not sure what the funding is like for social services, but we sure seem short of enough social workers at present. I realise I’m not offering any solutions, but it’s difficult when the higher ups won’t listen to/dimiss your problems.

The programmability of folk above a certain age is bloomin’ terrifying.

My elder relatives have political opinions that were on the news last night, even if they conflict with what was on the news the other night.

Indeed, some people are just easily led by big slogans.

masterful. It’s like SWF’s Heisenberg if he used his powers for good.

Have you identified the lie among the four sentences on the bus yet?

Post the four sentences please.

My memory must be playing up. I thought everything said by everyone was a lie.

My Grandparents, and on occasion my parents, do this too. Can’t imagine where it comes from

Yeah, dunno why anyone could possibly have thought the NHS would get more money as a result of Vote Leave. Was definitely all just suggestions
