With bits falling off the case of my old 2017 Lenovo Ideapad 310 Laptop, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 2TB, 15.6"…it’s time for a new one.
The old one’s a bit flaky but still fills most of my needs…except at 8GB RAM Photoshop editing isn’t like my Desktop, oh and of course it can’t run Windows 11.
So where are today’s bargains, 16GB RAM a minimum requirement but I only really Laptop Photo edit on holiday.
I don’t want to spend more than around the £1k mark…I am a pensioner after all.
I am no techie expert but in 2021 I had to buy a new laptop so did a ton of research. I ended up with a Lenovo but went with one powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 as at that time, AMD were wiping the floor with equivalent Intel processors. The Ryzen 7 was pretty new then. Got one with 16GB of Ram and dual core processing.
Best thing I did as my laptop still seems super fast, compared to my 2024 work supplied Intel powered Dell.
After checking other things I wanted like screen brightness, I purchased the Lenovo from Laptops Direct which I have used before. Good prices and full warranty support etc.
I’ve got a 2015 Dell big touchscreen aimed at Gamers with a GeForce card
Always more than I need.
Perfect for my limited laptop use.
But honna be dead in a couple of weeks or a year.
For the sole reason of shareholder value
Me, schools across Asia & Africa, Pensioners around the world all offline in a year.
Cunts
Anyone else get stressed setting up their new puter. I’m now running Windows 11 on my Desktop and new Laptop.
If you go along with all the Windows stuff, fine, but for years I’ve use Google Chrome as my browser of choice.
Fuckin hell, Microsoft don’t like that, they try to cling to you like a Limpet, making setting it up as difficult as possible.
Cunts.
I know, that was for Lady Slowlane. I subscribe to Microsoft 365 and my pictures are on One drive.
I don’t like change, that’s why I’m a lifelong Saints supporter.
