From the BBC gossip pages…

Manchester United are keen to sign a striker and have identified Everton’s England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 24, as the ideal candidate.

Thought they wanted Ings, or was that City?

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, 26, is a target for Aston Villa and the England international could be keen to make the move. (Football Insider)

Personally I think the article is click bait but, hey, what do I know??

I’m mildly excited by this signing and the prospect of fresh blood in the first team. Too many of our recent signings have not been ready and have been back ups. This lad is going straight in, sink or swim!

He’ll be joining Danny then…

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks about signing Jannik Vestergaard after the Southampton centre back entered the final year of his contract.

The north London club want to sign at least two defenders and Vestergaard, 28, is among the options that include his Denmark team-mate Joachim Andersen, who was on loan at Fulham last season and does not want to return to Lyons.

Spurs have expressed their interest to Southampton, who value Vestergaard at more than the £18 million they paid to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2018. Andersen, 25, has been valued at about £25 million by Lyons.

Fabio Paratici, the new Tottenham managing director, likes to negotiate for multiple players at once when trying to recruit for a position. The final decision will be made by Nuno Espírito Santo, the new Tottenham head coach who favoured using three central defenders at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Vestergaard has been playing in such a system for Denmark at Euro 2020.

Tottenham’s centre backs are Joe Rodon, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Davinson Sánchez, some of whom could be sold. Paratici has also been in talks to sign Japan’s 22-year-old Takehiro Tomiyasu, who can play at right or centre back, but their offer is less than Bologna’s valuation of £17 million.

Tottenham in a less than their valuation shocker.

Who’d of guessed that?
