I read about that in the Herald, but wondered, as i thought we had a couple of promising youngsters in the same position.
The age makes it tempting though. If he’s got any kind of first team ability(even under 23s) at 17 it’s worth a shot for a very difficult position to fill.
Whatever happens, it’s nice being back in the position where young players with real talent consider us as one of their best options.

Now that @Matthew-Le-God is back, I feel duty bound to point out that this season in particular feels like your first season as Southampton playing Football Manager or its predecessors.
It’s as if Southampton has done a search on “Bargain Youngsters” or perhaps even “Wonderkids” and is just waiting for their Ability to match their Potential Ability.
Yes, yes, I know we have always signed a lot of young players, but we’ve also been very pragmatic when we’ve needed to be, such as in the rise up the leagues or needing another big lad up front (Graziano Pelle).
I would not be surprised if we signed a promising sperm and put it in a Saints shirt.

On a separate note, I think we will be pretty busy on or around deadline day this year. Shifting some of the undesirables and hopefully one or two incomings 
£8m isn’t gonna break the bank, if Raplh has ok’d the approach it must be worth a punt.

Newcastle are in talks with PSG over the signing of defender Stanley N’Soki , Sky Sports News understands.
However, the two clubs are apart in their valuation with PSG valuing him at £12m, while Lazio are also in talks over the player. Newcastle tried to sign the defender in 2018 but were knocked back by the Ligue 1 champions.
Notable omissions are Romeu, Elyonoussi and Stephens. Are they injured or are the latter two surplus? I can’t see Romeu being shipped out.
