With regards to Clyne, do you think it’s possible he could simply be opposed to the idea of being bought and sold. I wonder if for him it may be moral issue and that he will let his contract run down. Clearly in Clynes case history and race could be relevant for the formulation of such a viewpoint, but I think for any footballer regardless of background it is dehumanising to be traded as a commodity. If you were a sought after £15 million footballer with a year left on your contract confident in your abilities, without fear that your career could be ended at any moment by a bad tackle i.e. willing to take the risk. why would you let your current club pocket £15million for you and not try to pocket it yourself in a years time?
He might be too old for Arsenal. Arsenal Wenger usually only likes taking young boys to the Arse, ruins them and then promises to pay them up front to sign a new contract and then tells them he had his fingers crossed really and their position is bench.
Mr Schneiderlin expects the situation to be resolved in the coming days, hopefully before pre-season training starts, according to a radio interview he gave.
Can’t really moan. Great service, he’s seen and done so much as a Southampton player, up and down the leagues, and it’s so nice that he’s leaving with a touch of grace this season, rather than with the exodus of last.
Quite a few of us, myself included, reckoned there was a behind the scenes gentlemans agreement that he’d hang on for another season. I’ve seen one report corroborate that already, so props to ya if you were in that camp. This year, it is manageable. Last year, can’t really say it would have been disastrous, because you never know with this setup. If he goes to a CL team, I’m happy.
