Gotcha :lou_wink_2:

Probably should have posted this sooner.

Last Saturday the dinner menu was home made pizza with home made coleslaw, and complete with chips.
With this dinner was the plan to watch a movie; this inv9lved me, Mrs TB, and young adult 1 (although he is getting perilously close to 40!).
The film chosen by Mrs TB, as our self appointed entertainments secretary, was the original Italian Job.
What a brilliant film! Even though I saw it back in 1969 when it came out, it was as good now (50 years on!!!) and as it was then.
It did make me think why the powers that be keep “remaking” films that had been successful in their day.
Have never had any desire to see the remake, and probably won’t, but I will at some point watch the original again.

Orange tea is necessary on occasion these days :+1:

I think all these remakes are due to the movie companies being unwilling to take risks.

People like what they know, so a variation on a theme will work for them I guess…maxing the revenue for the movie makers.

Can we add “most” modern remakes of classic hit singles to the list?

We can and should. It’s a bit depressing that the music industry think that rehashing old tunes is better than coming up with new classics. Lazy and easy I guess.

The only exception to the banning of ALL remakes is the Amazon Jack Reacher stories - the original movie had the horrible midget Tom Cruise playing a 6’ 4” giant of a man.

Fuck off.

I’m 5’4" and I can play 6’4"! *

* If all of the other cast are children made up with moustaches and beards, etc.

On that theme… Pilfered from my own FB

As a short-arse, I would like to pay tribute to fellow short-arse Tom Cruise.

Yes, I know he’s a weirdo. No, I’m not convinced by his protestations of love for the various people he has married.

But the man has been at the top for 35 years, and needs to cast short people all around him so he doesn’t look like a straining pygmy.

Congratulations Tom “Thumb” Cruise. You’ve done great for our people!

Cue pap striding around Spinal Tap’s version of Stonehenge. :lou_wink_2:

I would look like Godzilla in front of that twelve inch structure.

It’ll be in danger of being crushed by me.

Green screen is your friend oh mighty one. :lou_lol:

They just get him to stand closer to the camera

Otherwise Warwick would be the second best paid actor in tinsel town

I’m going to wait until that tech on the Mandalorian is cheap enough for the home.

Thursday night me and partner get a text asking us to log on and book our 2nd vaccination. We log on at the same time but get different days. A bit odd but both book our respective slots. Next day mine is cancelled. Get another link to rebook. No slots. My partner’s is not cancelled. Saturday get a missed call and a reminder text from NHS. Call the NHS line (though website tells you not to) and chat to a helpful woman who later calls me back. Apparently something wrong with them recording my last one. Hmmmmm. She assures me she’s now updated my file and I can hopefully book Sunday via the link and if not to call them again. No luck. Call again today. Speak to someone who again looks at my file and makes a noise which make me think there is still something up and talks to a manager. I get told to call and ask for a specific person tomorrow. Joy.
13 days to get it in the 12 weeks timeframe.
I’ve noticed that the NHS number written down when I attended is a bit odd. One of the numbers looks like a 9 and not a 4 so wonder if that’s the issue.
Or they’ve confused me with the woman who has the same name as me who is also a social worker. I once got offered a job, that we both went for, they’d meant to offer it to her. That was awkward.

In other things I’ve done today. Found a old box of letters and postcards from my teens to early twenties from exes, friends (including @pap) and penpals. Some of which I don’t remember at all (that’s mainly the penpals). Some serious flashbacks and remembering what an idiot I was back then (still probably am). So all good

3rd call to NHS vaccine booking here. Another one of those “oh” when they tried to book. Gave them my details again. They’d not recorded my 1st one it seems. Anyway booked in for 2nd one on Friday.

Just had an argument on FaceAche with an Aussie relative who said she’s not having the jab because she’s worried about the long term effects. I said she should be more worried about the long term effects of Covid-19. Said she knows 6 nurses and when she asked them they all said they weren’t having the jab. I suggested she was just as poorly informed as the 6 nurses.

I added it’s a pity she didn’t listen to the people I listened to…world renowned Virologists, Epidemiologist, Vaccine experts, Doctors and Physiologists who teach Nurses. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

The issue that Aussies have is that they just haven’t suffered enough - the reason why the UK is so receptive to the vaccine is that 120k people have died and we have spent the last 4 months incarcerated at home

They are having a wonderful time in the sun, meeting friends, going to the cricket etc - you can understand why the sense of urgency doesn’t exist down there

Yes but it’s the misinformation that being spread by nurses who should all know better. :lou_facepalm_2:
Unless it’s 6 fictitious nurses being used to validate a personal prejudice.
