šŸ¦‡ The sci-fi, fantasy and capeshit thread

There was fashion in the 90’s?

OK so Scully wears a skirt suit and very few pairs of jeans or jogging pants in sight

It’s fun, knowing what is coming and how both their careers went, just how wooden some of the early acting/characterisation was - also I never realised Marlbo’ro Man was in Ep 1

After a fashion there was ā€œfashionā€, but it was shit - hangover from the 80’s

Espradils white jeans and salmon pink tee shirts.

What could go wrong walking in to a squaddie pub in Marchwood?

Stuff going on and im lije so what.
So disconnected.
Maybe TixTok types like this bollix

Finished Boba Fett. It’s a good Star Wars time. Didn’t mind the Mandalorian stuff one bit but I can see why people complained. If you haven’t seen Boba Fett then series three of the Mandalorian is going to seem a bit disorienting.

Mass Star wars consumption continues. The Mandalorian S3 was very enjoyable and well concluded. Hope they don’t drag that one out. Perfect ending as it is.

Now watching Ashoka at the moment

Both better than Bob Fat

Yeah, but Boba Fett wasn’t shit.

All of the Dave Filoni stuff has been of a very decent standard. Hadyn Christensen stands redeemed.

Totally agree

Never…

Well I’m all caught up on the live action Star Wars stuff. It’s all good stuff, especially if you aren’t too fussy about who is in what.

I thought Ahsoka was a good show - and you don’t have to have seen Rebels to enjoy it, but I’m guessing it helps. It is reportedly just the next season of that show in live action. I’ve seen the first season of Rebels but didn’t plough on any further.

I am actually quite pleased with their version of Thrawn after initially not being sure. He comes across as middle management but that’s kind of the point. I was expecting things to be wrapped up in a neat little package at the end so I’m very pleased we got that Empire style ending.

I think watching Rebels and Clone Wars helps immensely. It helps with explaining what Ezra and Thrawn are doing in another galaxy for a start.

Also helps the Ahsoka story after their appearances in Clone Wars and Rebels (and the Mandalorian I guess).

Really liked Ray Stevenson R.I.P.

I’ve no doubt it’s loads better with the context but the show still worked for me without it. I’ve read the Zahn books so I definitely know who Thrawn is supposed to be.

I think even the Thrawn virgin will find him interesting. He’s not cruel per se, but his utter indifference when pursuing a strategy is almost as bad.

The first show in a bit where I was rooting for the baddies because their plan was so audacious.

There were quite a few moments when I thought the writing was about to get incredibly stupid but it was all a ruse and it was actually quite good. E.g. space whales.

Space Whales - stolen from Trek though

Halo S1 2022 was, as i posted before, not shit.
In fact IMDB gave it 7.2 Rotten Tomatoes 80%

S2 just dropped on Paramount+
It certainly starts out very good.
Well worth Masterchief coming back

Which song does it use as its theme tune?

The one by Depeche Mode or the one by Texas?

Great news.
S1 was ok ish
S2 built the story really well

Apple +
Constellation.
Yet another SciFi drops on Apple
Ep1 seems to be 2 hours long it has so much crammed into it.
iSS something happens it breaks.
Is the story up to about 50 minuted
Then
This could be a cracker.
