So I’ve caught up with the Obi Wan series, all five episodes and frankly, I can’t believe the moaning on here, especially as I was being directed to watch Picard season two.

It starts slowly but I really didn’t mind. With the benefit of having watched it, it starts from a very believable place, Obi-Wan still traumatised by the events of the past decade.

I think the writers are pushing it somewhat with the main conceit - it doesn’t segue too well with Leia’s message in A New Hope, and it does feel very familiar to the same “protect a squishy” plot from the Mandalorian, but it works. Just about. If you don’t think too hard.

But yeah, it’s a good show and getting a lot better with each episode. I don’t think any episode is bad per se; I expected and was pleased to see Obi-Wan being a bit fucked up by it all, and Haydn Christensen is finally being given some decent lines to deliver.

It’s a big yes from Sotonians man of Geek Monte.

I must concur with this surmise, the first 2 episodes of S3 have been very good indeed, the only blight is the poor special effects to try and make the actors look 10 years older than they were in Season 2

The Orville S3 has a bigger budget.
It also now takes itself more seriously.
It does lose a bit from that but then it has managed to go more TOS.
Ep 3 was almost classic TOS.
It is nowhere near SNW levels story/acting wise but remains entertaining and the increased budget does improve the special effects
