šŸ¦‡ The sci-fi, fantasy and capeshit thread

Oh.
This is unexpectedly big news

He did great stuff tbh.
And of late the show had been ahit

Edited for you

I really enjoyed the concept of the Ani-Matrix when it came out years ago, and Disney has done a similar thing with Star Wars: Visions, 15 minute animated shorts as stand alone stories from different animation studios, I’m enjoying it so far.

I start rewatching B5 and BOOM!
I am truly an influencer
Or something!

Well that is a big change of mind from JMS. He’d previously said he had no interest in remaking it out of respect for some of the people he’d cast and has subsequently died.

That said, if anything needs a ground up reboot, Babylon 5 is the perfect candidate - even though I love it so much. First and last seasons are spotty. Fourth season is rushed because they thought they were getting cancelled at the time.

This will give them the opportunity to sort that. I do wonder how they’ll handle the Sinclair character though.

They come thick & fast.

Crimson Force.
Netflix.
A wonderfully bad B Movie
Plot holes the size of the HGV Driver shortage & sets from 1980s Dr Who.
Awfully watchable

When I say plot holes.
Oh look nobody is surprised Martians live on Mars

About 45 years ago I read a book. It was a good book, I remember it painted big pictures in my mind ans so I read the next 2 in the series.
Luckily I remember the big pictures not the micro detail.

So today my backup provider dropped the 1st 2 episodes of the TV adaptation of that book.

Luckily I dont have to be a nerd and complain about bits or characters, I can watch the show paint big pictures.
And wow it does that. The acting is good and there is a story being told.

Foundation Ep 1 Big. Epic

Since when did plot holes ever bother you?

You love the new Star Trek, for example.

Oh mate Crimson Firce is up there about a mile below Plan 9 from outer space in B Movie ratings.

Now, Foundation on the other hand.
If only they hadn’t ripped off Trek & Star Wars
:wink::nerd_face:

It’s adapted for TV innit, plus they’ve got to bring it up to date…changing some of the character’s genders isn’t really an issue but the strange changing of Cleon to clones did irk a bit…

What really annoys me the most is I can’t find my Foundation books to read and make notes…

Didn’t Etel Demerzel turn out to be be Daneel Olivaw (the spelling of their names is probably all wrong).

Not sure I liked Jared Harris as Harry Seldon either, he’s not what Seldon is to me in my minds eye, Seldon is more of a Alfred Hitchcock type character…

Violence is the last resort of the incompetent…

The benefit of the book read being 45+ years ago
Just big pictures remained.
I did remember the Space Cable fall though, and have often wondered why we haven’t seen that ripped off in other movies that ā€œborrowed Canonā€ from Foundation.

My hope for the series was always that it would tell ā€œThe Big Storyā€ and most criticisms seem to be about characterisations.

Please please please George RR Martin.

Finish the damn books. I have spent more time listening to George-whisperers, making a pretty penny from YouTube for speculating on where the series goes next, than is remotely healthy.

These people will continue as long as you don’t finish the works. The same people have a fucking field day with Tolkien thanks to all the shite he never finished.

Finish the damn books.

I would like to see the series finished too. In the meantime there are plenty of other great authors to read.

I think he has written himself into a few corners, personally. Young Adult Unit #1 reckons he’s taking so long because he is now deviating from the show ending, even though he says the broad strokes are the same.

Yay!
Only 99 episodes of Babylon 5 to go
