It’s instructive to look at the season we had before the squad got gang raped by the rest of the division. Up the top for some time, playing excellent football and looking a genuine threat. Has there ever been a squad so depleted in a single transfer window, barring teams after relegation or administration?

“Victims of their own success” was the infuriatingly fucking obvious yet paradoxical stick that we were beaten with afterwards.
Hence me always saying what is the point of bringing young players on for the board to profit from and the club only to tread water, buy ready made players and save everyone to the time and effort. Selling club or a club that gives youth a chance is a patronising pat on the head as the big clubs know if they’re any good they’ll be having them in a season or two, we’re trying to do the right thing whilst due to telly clappers and shirt sales they can play the waiting game.
