Happy Birthday mush
âŠand the same to yourself, squire.
At my age the news of a negative PSA test is cause for a celebration.
Just over a year ago I bought a dwarf (sorry - non PC word) nay, small, crab apple tree to provide flowers to encourage early pollinators. Last year it flowered quite spectacularly for its size, and Mrs TB made one jar of jam from the fruit that followed - wonderful translucent yellow colour.
Same this year, but more flowers, more fruit! The crab apple yellow is dripping out now - jam to be made tomorrow (hopefully more than 1 jar this time)
I have a yearning to get a reasonable sized plot, grow apples and make cider, jam and chutney to keep.me sweet for the year. It will likely never happen.
My friend has done this in Oxfordshire and iâm envious.
Never give up on your dream.
We stopped growing flowers years ago, because our garden was invaded by weeds and tree roots from both sides where no gardening was ever done.
We went to tubs - and grow a large selection of fruit and vegetables, eating all summer and well into winter.
From the New Forest and Testwood Lakes we get 4 to 6 kilos of blackberries and crab apples - jam for the year.
The garden gives us tomato and chilli jam, cucumber relish, pickled cucumber, green tomato chutney, tomatillo pickle, pickled chillies, and dried chillies, also crab apple jelly (two and a half jars this year from a mini tree.
So pickles and jams sorted for the year, and added to by specials bought as we see them (fresh apricots from the Indian Shop).
Not everything is mentioned here.
So - live that dream, start making a few jams and pickles, and take it from there.
LAst Saturday after the game, we picked all the Raspberries that were ready.
Then it rained every day.
Today Mrs P_F had to go into the office (they are moving, (the millenials and whatever ame next have no clue what to do as they couldnât find a hack on You Tube)
So off she went leaving me with the âif the sun shines and wind blows and it droes out you need to pick the Raspberriesâ
Awkrap, it did. So I did.
At one point it was like being lost in the Jungle, bloody things have gone MAD
So around 16:30 a storm blew in - crazy winds but luckily no rain but those fvckers were slapping around like an only fans model so had to take a 30 minute break.
So yeah, not a bad 5 hour work out tbh time to destroy a Rib Eye Steak before my back does a CB style lock up
3 hour drive to find MiL had unplugged my phone so it didnât charge overnight.
Phone died as 2nd goal went in and we entered the Church.
No phone? Made new friends.
Including (randomly) The European Belly Dancing Champion.
Sheâs promised to give Mrs P_F lessons.
Well, obviously, there are You Tubes from back in the day, I just needed time to let the cold shower have some impact.

Getting my ticket sorted for the WBA home game!
I have a tight schedule. I will be going to Mikeâs Fish & Chip shop on Queensway before the game because I NEED Cod, Chips & Mushy Peas and will be drinking Hopback pints later at Salisbury Rugby Club.

If anyoneâs at a loose end this afternoon, the classic car show at the Concorde is well worth a visit. Loads of cars, great atmosphere, fiver each entry.
Just got back from a 3 day stay in Lincoln so missed it.
