It’s strange isn’t it, how sometimes you meet people and hit it off almost immediately. This happened recently when we were waiting in the departure lounge at Gatwick Airport; on our way to Porto for an eight day river cruise.

Jerry and Jean, like Lady Slowlane and I were waiting for the assistance buggy to take the two ladies to the departure gate. Chat, chat. chat, we found we were all going on the same cruise…great.

I’m not sure when Jerry and I got talking about music but very quickly we were amazed to find our musical tastes dovetailed seamlessly into the conversation. It appeared Jerry and I had been to the same concerts and festival, the only difference being I paid to get in but Jerry was working for ā€œMelody Makerā€ and ā€œSoundsā€ writing reviews and conducting interviews. Jealous? Yes me too.

Jerry had even been to the same Joni Mitchell concert I attended at The Royal Festival Hall on 17th January 1970. I know the date because I kept the ticket, it was probably the best concert I’ve ever been to, but hey! I was in love.

The other day I went to ā€œwww.jonimitchell.comā€ to see if Jerry’s review was in their archive…it was. As I read the review it seemed very familiar, despite being written fifty two years ago. This is why…

I found it in my hand written Album Catalog…pasted into the back pages. I’d saved Jerry’s review and there it resides to this day. That’s SERENDIPITY.

Back in early Spring we realised we’d forgotten to plant Chilli seeds. We bought 2 plants ā€œSmoky Devilā€ Chillies from Leroy Merlin. We had a crazy bumper crop of huge chillies with a wonderful, almost perfect heat AND a Chipotle smokiness. They all got Pickled!
Thought that was it until I noticed bending bushes Saturday.
Would love to leave the green ones a bit longer but risk of a frost tonight.
Think these will get dried. Nom nom bloody nom

Lady Slowlane had her second Cataract removed this afternoon so we’ve just ordered a curry from the kitchen to celebrate. Yes not too hot, don’t want her new eye watering too much. :lou_lol:

FaceTime with mum and dad

Dad giving it large about his new iPhone 14 pro 256gb - on and on and on

I pipe up

Does Mum know you spent more than a grand on that phone?

Highly amusing reaction on both counts

I’m feeling smug after picking my Chillies last week as we did have a light ground frost despite the weather forecasts saying no.
I also git a decent haul of Raspberries the same time, what I didn’t expect was to spend 2 hours today in 21C picking another huge haul!

Now, most of you lit would be turning these into Jam, but over here we don’t do ā€œsquash or Ribenaā€ we do Syrups.
So these get reduced down in some weird made by a Grandad steamer/boiler/juicer.
In winter the syrup is a great source of Vitamin C and mixed with water is delicious when having my lunches on the road.
But the BEST use?
Vodka, Pineapple Juice & Orange Juuce & a decent splash of Syrup.
Healthier than a Cola and delicious so well worth the work.

(I will introduce @Goatboy to Syrup shots later this week!)

Finally getting used to the key placement on the new work laptop. Everything was about two inches to the left of where I expected it on my previous laptop, so I briefly lost the ability to touch-tyipe.

I was like you people (@BTripz excluded).

For shame!

Just move the laptop 2 inches to the right then?

My Lenovo work laptop has the FN and Ctrl keys the wrong way around, it always messes with me when I have to use the laptop keyboard.

And what exactly is wrong with staring closely at the keyboard typing with two fingers and a furrowed brow with the tip of your tongue sticking out?

Nothing at all.

I have great pride in my lack of keyboard dexterity with over 50 years of computing experience and a dogged determination to prove the digital world will peter out before I could touch type.

So far so good. :+1:
