😃 The Little Pleasures of Everyday Life

Not after a 4 pint lunch, a Roast Lamb dinner with a Cotes du Rhone Villages and some herbal desert and some Grapefruit vodka.

One of my off the beaten track tours getting attention!

Best place for this little story - still makes me smile,

When I was doing my walkabout in Shirley the other day, I saw a 20p piece on the pavement.

I stopped and thought “I really can’t be arsed to bend down, get stuck and/or fall down”.

So - discretion overcame valour, so I rationalised by thinking a small child can find that, and put it towards their sweets or drugs.

Walked on by!

I remember finding a 10 bob note in St Mary’s Road when I was a kid. In the 1950s that was big money as at that time me and my brother weren’t getting any pocket money.

My Mum said we should take it to the Police Station so off we went to the Civic Centre. The nice Policeman said we were good boys and if it wasn’t claimed in 6 weeks (I think), we could come back to claim the money for ourselves.

Sure enough after 6 weeks nobody had claimed the money and after a wrestling match in which I beat up my brother, he kindly decided I should have the whole 10 bob.

Just goes to show, if we’d had the wrestling match 6 weeks earlier I could have banked the 10 bob and earned interest from a new Post Office banking account.

Honesty doesn’t always pay. :rage:

Dr Alice Roberts. Very intelligent woman. Digging For Britain on iPlayer. Come a long way from being a grunt on Time Team back in the day.

Talked myself onto the coach 90 mins before the one I booked. Saved a wait.

Get to Winchester driver gets call.
All roads into London are buggered

Bless

The A31/A3 is fine. Have a word with the driver maybe.

My introduction to weird regional accents. TV didn’t used to have many of them back then.

I thought these kids were aliens, but they were simply Geordie, Scouse or Welsh.

As you said, aliens
