😃 The Little Pleasures of Everyday Life

You’re on your own nipper.

On to another tranquil setting. Sandringham, so tomorrow is mostly about afternoon tea with her maj, except she’s sent apologies. So just Sandringham afternoon tea. At least means I’ll be the celebrity guest.

Should have been a photo, but it seems the royals haven’t discovered 4G yet, let alone wifi.

Welcome to my world Shroppie.

Follow the lane, should find a black or grey green box about a metre high. Look for the nesrest bush.
Should be an old guy in there pedalling to power the innerweb.
Tell him you have an important picture to post and get off his arse.

More likely Prince Andrew’s paying a visit and is using all the local bandwidth for humberthumbert.com.

The link goes nowhere - as far as I know there’s no such web site. In fact, I very much hope there isn’t. Humbert Humbert is the assumed name of the protagonist and narrator in Nabokov’s novel Lolita; he and the Duke of York have a few things in common.

A satisfying start to the day. Beat my fastest time for a Guardian crossword. 11 mins 3 seconds. :grinning::grinning:

Awoke early to pick up a Rib full of young joyriders. What they were doing in the Channel at this time of the morning I have no idea.
Many of you will be asking why people of our standing prefer P&O. Well Lady Slowlane and I like to keep in touch with the proletariat .
Canard are a definite no-no, most of our staff use them and it would be too embarrassing to bump into them on an equal standing.
I think we pay them too much.

Finding oneself at a loose end for half an hour before the time you arranged to meet up with the Ayatollah after she has been shopping and I’ve been to a museum.

Then realising you are stood next to the three Tuns and it has been voted best pub in York

Oh go on then….

Just back from a cruise around the British Isles on P&O Britannia. With Covid restrictions we had just one port of call, Greenock on The Firth of Clyde. On a foggy morning last Wednesday we were escorted into the port by a pod of Dolphin. Just conveniently happened below our cabin balcony.

Picking 2 ears of corn from the garden to go with dinner.

Sweet and delicious, and it only travelled 100 yards!

You don’t get many ears of corn, but this year the corn really was as high as an elephants eye, and with only 3 plants we might get another couple of ears.

100 yards?

How big is your garden?

Do you access it through a wardrobe and does it have a lot of statues?

No wardrobe access, no stone statues, but it should have said 100 FEET!
There are times in life when experienced quantity surveyors should be allowed to make mistakes!

I hear the servants drive at Slowlane Towers is about 300 yards. The main entrance is said to be much, much, longer.
