😃 The Little Pleasures of Everyday Life

Looks like a yawn to me.

Going to Sunnyfields farm shop for fresh veg and other stuff (the bread is good).
ALL the trolleys are cleaned and sanitised before/after use.
There is plenty of room to park, and plenty of room in the shop areas (they have done a lot of extending/alterations to take advantage of the COVID situation in mainstream stores).
There are several people in store supervising shoppers and ensuring social distancing.
Tesco, Asda, et al please go and see how it is so easily done.

Being dragged limping to Lidl.
To find almost all the drinking plonk weve liked this year is reduced by 25% or more.
The planned 1 bottle of Chablis Grand Cru for Xmas has turned into 2 cases of Christmas cheer and a cheeky bin end 58% reduced unwooded Hunter Valley Chardonnay

Being caught by Mrs TB’s track and trace.
A rude cartoon from Sotonians was sent to the two (male) young adults (not to Mrs TB, as she was considered too delicate for the depth of rudeness!).
Eldest sent it to a friend, who posted it on Facebook.
Someone from Facebook sent it to Mrs TB. She then sent it on to others, including the two young adults: then it all came out
(as they took joy in dobbing me in) that they had already received it from me!

Nice to see Sotonians bring families together.

Obviously she is a little more ā€˜saucy’ than given credit for

Having to order Sherry with the Asda shopping, as we had run out (last Xmas day!), and two tablespoons were required for some culinary delight Mrs TB was putting together this last week.
That leaves the best part of a litre to see me through to Xmas lunch.

I used to work in the Happy Shopper on St. Mary’s Street. A lot of the old timers used to drink sherry or port.

I think the scary thing now is that I don’t mind sherry or port.

Port & Stilton is THE best part of post lunch Christmas Day.

It fills that annoying hour long gap between Xmas Pudding & Turkey sandwiches

You don’t need to wait for Christmas Day.

You don’t actually need Stilton. I’m a Roquefort man myself.

Oh I can have Roquefort any day of the week. Finding Stilton is the luxury.

Nothing to eat it with though. Crackers etc aren’t a thing here & my knee means I ain’t trekking to the international store this week.

Also having just had a gout AND Arthritis attack that’s lasted a week, I’ll wait for a few days!

You need to become Lord Phillip of the UK again.

There’s an ambition for you, chief blag. You’ll fucking do it as well, I bet

I feel you, years ago I was suffering from pain in my right wrist, had been going on for years, they thought, because of my job, that it was RSI and didn’t really investigate it a lot…then this happened.

They pain was really bad, couldn’t take anti-inflammatories and liquid morphine just made me ill…

Turns out it was gout and they put me on medication for it, the mediciation cleared it up within a couple of weeks, I now take it take daily religiously, have a few minor attacks now and again but nothing like that any more…

They blame it on a decadent lifestyle, too much port they say, never I say!!!

Port is excellent stuff and a bottle is always an acceptable gift in our household, as is Madeira which is equally pleasant and Commandaria if you can get it.

I got quite a taste for Madeira on holiday in Funchal in 2019…jeez that seems so, so long ago :slightly_frowning_face:
