😃 The Little Pleasures of Everyday Life

Oi.

I can wear stilts if so minded (I am not).

Can you solve your ā€œproblemsā€ so easily?

All of them?
In one go?
More chance of you being 6’3" next time we meetšŸ˜‰

So. Yesterday we took ā€œMumā€ to the local Convent.
Every year towards the end of Lent they provide a foodbank for the local retired villagers.

Last year it was all a bit gesture led. Tins of Mackerel Fillets in oil & TUC crackers.

This year? Noticeably different. The ā€œGoodie bagā€ was a panic buyers dream. Cheeses, tinned meats/hams, bags of Pasta & Rice, Jams and Preserves. (And of course the Mackerel Fillets)

Basically enough mix of Carbs & Protein to keep old folf running for 2 weeks.

Considering many have no transport they are delivering the parcels, and for many it could be a lifeline as it isn’t easy to carry that much from a shop when you are in your 70’s even IF the stuff was still on the shelves.

Good work in these troubled times.

(the Cats are just gonna have to learn to like Mackerel Fillets)

Finally getting Mr Tigger to agree it would be good to get another dog to go back to being a 4 dog household. Result.

Well, self isolation & sunshine (which is supposed to help fight viruses.
And a cunning plan.

Gonna plant Spaghetti trees & make millions.

But seriously started work digging new flower beds weather is superb could get into this gardening malarkey.
But not to @ericofarabia levels

Just me, the missus and the dog here at the moment. As nobody is coming within sniffing distance I will be showering once a week…whether I need it or not. :lou_lol:

Now that the University has officially locked down I am WFH.

The cat has just jumped on my lap asking for some attention whilst I am trying to work, amazing how comforting that actually is…

Practicing my social distancing from this little beauty whilst walking the dog this morning. No danger unless you climb into the middle of this gorse bush. A Black Adder. :lou_lol:

Riding a bike. Again.

Having poppadom shoulders is a problem. I’ve damaged my rotator cuffs 3 times now (twice on the right, once on the left - football, cycling and a headbutt).

Last time was in early November and so I’d been off the bike for over 4 months. Each time I tried to do my rehab exercises it would breakdown again. It’s been really frustrating and I’ve put weight on which is difficult to shift if you can’t exercise.

Did a short 8km loop to Tescos and all was good. It’s a really simple thing - riding a bike and easy to take for granted, until you can’t do it.

Feels great.

Trying to find new places to walk to. Discovered a little bit of Epping Forest is more accessible than I realised.

Followed by beer

OK… so as many of you know I have had a pretty shitty last year… well when I say I, I mean first my daughter having a nasty liver problem that lasted from July through to November and gave us some serious concerns, the Mrs MoT finding the dreaded ā€˜Lump’ over Christmas and then having worst confirmed back in Jan… so needlesss to say my head has not been totally focused on work as first priority… as such I have at times not done my best work, but have still delivered in general… anyway enough back story but last week, after saying ā€˜yes’ to rescue someone else shite proposal that needed to go out, I lost two days on my own latest $480k proposal that was due with client Friday pm… it was not my best work, but it was not utterly shit either, but I took a different approach to ensue it was completed and got it in by the deadline… but Boss was not pleased, gets me on phone and makes me feel like shit all weekend…

… today client procurement sent email…

Dear MoT

Thank you for your proposal and budget breakdown. We both thought the content was excellent. We are curious if you could let us know if it would be possible to explore a small discount should we award you the business as we see further opportunities for extension to the current selected indications for the asset?

It would be great to catch up tomorrow and discuss terms as we are keen to award and contract this week…

… the pleasure was in simply forwarding to boss with request to discuss ā€˜economies of scale’ at 0930 tomorrow…

Its not a big thing, but after the shit he gave it was nice to just send a simple message…

Let’s just hope that discount they want isn’t $479k.

So the beers are on you after this virus fucks off and you finally make it down south?

TBH, beers will be on me regardless when I get to a game!

Nice quiet walk with two of the hounds. The one on the right is the girl that has had 2 tumours removed with a warning it will probably return but for now she is healthy and enjoying her life
