Itâs really uplifting to see how much your diet has improved since you landed back on our fair isle. Those foreigners eat such filthy muck.
âIf it has got four legs and it is not a chair, if it has got two wings and it flies but is not an aeroplane, and if it swims and it is not a submarine, the Cantonese will eat it.â

You astound me. Iâd have thought youâd book it for Wednesday evening.
Thanks @lifeintheslowlane, ordered yesterday, arrived 10 minutes ago, ears irrigated and I can hear again!!
Update #1. One family now coming for a week. Two other families want to catch up so will âdrop inâ for barbeques (yes, plural). Took out a mortgage at the butcherâs. My legendary skills over the coals are going to be tested and Iâll be a little busy.
What a day!
Grandson did exactly what all my clients do on a tour
You do realise the whole of Essex will be in Bompey on Sunday.
As LITSL points out, Bompey might be best avoided this weekend. Lymington boot sale is on Sunday, decent bootie.
What is happening in Bournemouth the weekend then?
Nothing specific, but itâs going to be a very hot one. Bound to be rammed.
Good point, well made.
Will see how the post Summer Lightning hangover is
Wetherspoons.
Breakfast. + Doombar.
Jesus and Donkey Wee.
M3 was simply HORRIBLE today.
Not going anywhere south of Salisbury Cathedral tomorrow.
Cant be a single human left in London by now, all on the M3
(And A38/35 etc)
Welcome to the South Coast in the summerâŠ
Yesterday I took my watch into a jewellers (Constad in Petersfield) to enquire about servicing/cleaning/whatever. Itâs a Longines; the movement was made in 1959 and shipped in January 1960 to Wittnauer Longines in New York, where the case, face, hands etc. were added. The date of the invoice to Wittnauer Longines is 13th January 1960 - just a few days before I was born. It was a sixtieth birthday present from my ever-loving wife, so the coincidence of dates is more than a little appealing.
The jeweller asked if it was working OK. I told him it loses around a minute a day. He then said that having it serviced is the last thing that I should do, as if a watch of that age is keeping time that well youâd end up spending a few hundred pounds on a service, with no guarantee that it would work as well afterwards.
Good service, with a genuine understanding of both the item and the customerâs interests, I like that.
60 Dorian? Howâs the painting in the attic?
Looking a little the worse for wear, to be honest. And, had you been more arithmetically attuned, youâd have spotted that I am actually sixty-one. Couple of extra lines on the old painting, but little else worthy of comment.
