šŸ˜  The Little Annoyances Of Everyday Life (Part 1)

Turning up for what was told was an eye test, with a hangover.
To discover it was a reaction speed & mental agility testā€¦
Meh, nailed it. Now to kill Mrs P_F for the bad intel.

Maybe time to put Polish lessons on the bucket list :man_shrugging:

What is with the French and dog shit. Itā€™s everywhere. You cannot walk 100 metres without have to step around half a dozen turds. why?

Have their pooches mastered the art of clipping one out at a trot so their owners donā€™t notice and walk obliviously onwards

Is there an epidemic of sciatica on the Cote Dā€™Or rendering the owners incapable of bending down to pick it up

Or the French just fucking ignorant

Do we really need to answer that one??

Technology innit. You were probably still trying to find out where the film went before she got bored, rolled her eyes and cracked on

Anyway the only setting you need is Auto

Whatever happened to white dogshit? One of lifeā€™s mysteries.

I can only imagine that the local council must have to clear the crap up so often so that it never gets to that state. Which is just as well otherwise you would be walking on a three foot high carpet of shite.

Seriously some of these little yappers must deposit half their body weight

Iā€™m told that itā€™s down to the fact that dogs no longer eat bones.

Calcium.

Stupid, but not that stupid(just). I did manage to upload pics on the first try while strolling along the riverbank(although she has pointed out some obvious things that i apparently missed somehow :lou_facepalm_2:).

Point and shoot is truly amazing. After first use i thought that i wouldnā€™t have to look at a single one of the 598 pages @lifeintheslowlane helpfully provided. I have unfortunately found that the pics i like taking donā€™t always work out in auto. Fast moving birds and tree branches in line, but at different distances are confusing it. Iā€™d be very thankful to anyone that can tell me an auto setting for that
Plus side so far. She hasnā€™t asked for one yet.

If the ā€œcontinuous-focusā€ works like my Sony A7ā€¦if you press the shutter release hafway down it will ā€œdrawā€ an in-focus square around the object in the centre of the frame. When that object moves the ā€œin-focusā€ square will follow it, ignoring branches etc nearer you so the object of your picture will continue to be in focus. Search the pdf book for ā€œshooting moving objectsā€ Remember for shooting pictures of fast moving objects also select ā€œcontinuous shutter releaseā€ā€¦this will fire a stream of pictures as long as you keep the shutter release pressed.
Hereā€™s a good video for youā€¦

Yeah, get the same view and tech. Itā€™s very ingenious and iā€™ve barely scratched the surface.
The problem for me mainly arises when i notice a bird between branches. The auto has a habit of picking the closest thing(never the bird) and and although i can focus on something else, then back in to the bird, this takes time the birds donā€™t appear willing to give me. Get what youā€™re saying and know about Sonyā€™s famous eye follow(or whatever they call it) and sometimes it helps, but the above problem, not so much.
I was thinking just use manual focus, as it would seem quicker(I know what iā€™m trying to focus on, unlike the camera).
Have found the continuous shutter invaluable for insects and some birds(but still no Kingfishers for mešŸ˜ ).
I will delve into the book when iā€™m back from holiday and spending a weekend on the riverbank(alone).
Just noticed the vid. Will watch tonight thanks.

I havenā€™t got that full tracking in the vid on yet. Thatā€™ll help a lot with certain attempts and will be heaven if it can do that awkward between branches thing. Cheers again.
Down side, my daughter will probably take about 1000 shots tomorrow. If she gets a really good kingfisher one, iā€™ll be blaming you :joy:

The other downside with taking pictures with the continuous shutter setting is working through loads of them to identify the ones worth showing. I do it directly after taking them reviewing them and just leaving the ones that are framed nicely and are in sharp focus.

Iā€™ve been considering this. My daughter takes loads, but deletes none. First one i delete will without doubt be her favourite. Might just transfer mine and tell her thatā€™s her card, once itā€™s full, tough.
Iā€™ve also noticed that i have become very aware of changing light and regularly pick up the camera just because the light on a tree has changed. Iā€™d like to say thatā€™s annoying(thread topic), but in reality itā€™s exactly what i was hoping for. Something that keep me in the countryside more, works with fishing and also being on the movešŸ‘

Lighting is everythingā€¦if itā€™s a bright day with scudding clouds I take out my Sony A7ā€¦if itā€™s dull and overcast I put my Sony RX100 in my pocket.
If you want to use a dedicated topic thereā€™s one I started in the ā€œGalleryā€ sectionā€¦ Serious Photography Hobbyists?

I will use that for future discussions. Far too many questions this early, so will play around and hopefully get a few shots worth posting there whilst learning.
Lots of questions will follow, no doubt about that

I certainly wonā€™t know all the answers but usually know where to find them. :lou_lol:
