One of my team lives in a block in Wandsworth with a 24hr walking fire watch costing ÂŁ5k a week. Theyâre trying to jump through all the hoops to get the government funding to replace the cladding but it is so labyrinthine a process that itâs as if the government donât want to help. Worryingly the survey on the cladding she got before purchase said everything was fine. Sheâs not happy.

If you are issued a parking fine, find out if the firm is public or private, and if it is private check that it is on the list of either the British Parking Association or the Independent Parking Committee approved operators. If not, the firm doesnât belong to a trade body and is unable to enforce the fine â so you do not have to pay.
Next, if you think the charge has been wrongly issued or is too high, donât pay the company straight away. Instead, appeal to the parking firm, and if they reject it, appeal to the independent appeals service. As it is not a fine, but rather a breach of contract, to be legally binding such a contract requires a clear offer, acceptance, and consideration. If the contract terms and notices are not transparent â so signs that are clear, easy-to-understand, and allowing informed choices â then the contract may be void. This means that the motorist is not required to pay the fine

Yep it is causing a lot of issues. Thankfully we are under 18 metres and could get out easily if there was a fire so we havenât needed a fire watch. Our block shouldnât have been included as we were under 18 metres. Then they decided to include us. So people cannot sell or get new mortgage as our properties are considered to be ÂŁ0. We have issues with lack of fire stopping measures which should be for the original company to resolve. Theyâre not going to bother apparently. They are currently working on the building next door but are not willing to give a quote for ours.
There are worse situations of course with people being charged tens of thousands to have the cladding removed.
