We just went to a new insurer for a premium lower than last year (same cover).
Depends what you were paying last year. I know quite a few people whoâve tried that without finding a significantly better deal than theyâre on.
Best I have found is still 20% more than my current year.
I donât demean myself by getting personally involved in such sordid matters, I simply leave my broker to deal with it.
Mine came in yesterday 375 to 974
Tbf we forgot and let it auto renew last year - schoolboy error.
It really pisses me off that with everything - energy, TV, broadband, mobiles, house insurance, car insurance (x3), travel insurance you have to go through the ritual of phoning, asking how they justify massive increases and hopefully getting down to something sensible.
With my motorhome insurance Iâve alternated between two providers every year for 5 years. The renewal always comes in at 20-30% increase. So I phone the other one, get a quote, tell the current one to match it but they wonât, so I switch.
What a fucking waste of time
Using Windows Mail. All setup years ago and now they want me to change to the new Outlook Mail appâŚin a couple of days time.
I go to set the new one up and I now need a new SMTP authentication passwordâŚWTF.
I have an old ntlworld.com email address but now Virgin/O2 want me to change my address to .outlook or .gmail or whatever. I had my email address forever and now the want me to change it to lifeintheslowlane3567@gmail.com
Fuck thatâŚwho do they think they are dealing with, an ordinary person??
Iâve come up with a solution, Iâve just added âthe.â at the beginning of my new email address.
GET IN!
Having to adjust the clutch cable on a 65 year old Volkswagen.
Take rear nearside hubcap off.
Loosen wheel nuts
Jack up car so rear tyre clears the ground.
Remove said wheel.
Place axle stand under sturdy suspension arm
Lower jack to allow axle stand to take the weight.
Rummage around for a 14mm and a 10mm spanner.
Measure free play at Clutch Pedal⌠1 1/2"âŚtoo much.
Slide under car with spanners to contort your arm in a manner VAR would deem an unnatural position.
Tighten Clutch Cable with 14mm and use the 10mm for the lock-nut.
20 minutes.
Attempt to get out from underneath car and stand upâŚanother 20 minutes.
Check free play at Clutch Pedal⌠1/2" > 3/4"âŚ
Reverse jacking up ritual after securing rear wheel.
10 minutes.
Whizz car around the village for 10 minutes to check everything is as it should be.
Annoying but with the successful outcome, an hour well spent.
Bloody insanity.
I have a watch bought on Amazon, still works after several years.
About 4 months ago had to get new battery - from Timpsons, the battery costing more than the watch 2 years previously.
Now the plastic strap has broken - and guess what? Itâs cheaper to buy a new watch than a cheap strap, so now I will have two watches.
Only 2? I must have about half a dozen as for some reason the company likes to give them out for safety prizes. They have started to give away these smart watches (because they are cheap ) but you cannot wear them outside the accommodation onboard because they are not intrinsically safe. Wankers
You bought the watch from Amazon. Why not buy the replacement batteries and strap from them as well? Itâs like buying a clapped out Fiesta for ÂŁ200 from Honest Johnâs Motor Emporium, then complaining that Hendys main dealers wanted more to service it than the car cost you.
Losing a bet at work. The prize for the Victor was that they would get their choice of radio station for a whole week. Iâve had to put up with R2 and Jeremy Fucking Vine since Monday, FFS.
time for a tactical covid
I have a Fitbit Charge 5. For two years it was fine, then suddenly started acting strangely in August: locking on logo screen and basically being useless. Finally it totally bricked and now wonât do anything.
Calls to customer support were a waste of time, telling me to go through steps Iâve read up and tried but they do nothing.
Finally research has informed me that thousands of Charge 5s have similarly crashed fatally after a corrupt update was automatically applied. Fitbit deny this and failed to rectify the issue. I have demanded a full refund under the Sale of Goods Act as, although itâs our of their pathetic warranty - six months and only if bought direct from their website - but is not fit for purpose because of their update. They refused.
Even ones under warranty are only being offered 35% off a replacement. They have the cheek to note the Charge 6 is being released. Iâve read that a big class action is being prepared in the States.
Please donât buy a Fitbit and do share this far and wide. In common with many current Fitbit owners I am.switching to Garmin and will never touch them again.
Whatâs a Fitbit? Is it like an Garmin Satnav? Asking for a friendâŚ.
Like a watch. Counts your daily steps, measures heart rate, oxygen saturation, sleeps patterns and all sorts. When it works.
Oh, and tells the time.
I know
