Half an hour wait for a thing that could be done between 10-4 is not bad, most places would have made you wait until 4

Used to be CRB check (Criminal Records Bureau) but now call DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
Think the Criminal bit was considered wrong for some reason!!

I thought they were all done online? now last one I had to get in the UK had to be done through the Scottish Police Service. Still dont understand why.

It was more they could have told me yesterday about the meeting and not waste my time. I waited 45 minster for them to quickly photocopy the documents (2mins) and now I do the rest on line. I have about 10 crb/dbs checks in a file. But every new job you have to do it all again.

Waiting for a new Frank Ocean album.
I wrote a competency system at the tail end of 2007. It keeps track of peopleâs skills, and lets management know when they need a refresher. The industry I work in is heavily regulated and audited.
Day one, they tell me that people can only be active on one group of skills. So if someone moves from say, Assembly, to Electronics, all their competencies shift over to Electronics. They are no longer assigned to work on Assembly.
It has worked this way for nine years.
I get a call from someone yesterday moaning that their people arenât active on the system for a certain set of skills. I look into it, and lo and behold, theyâve completely moved disciplines. The system is doing what it should.

âIâm afraid it does, for very good reasons. The business wants to ensure that people are only active on the stuff theyâre actually working on.â

They have banned the selling of Muriatic acid to the general public in liquid form in the Philippines.
I now have to get the PH regulator for the pool in powder form at an extortionate rate and have to buy 25 kg bags of it which also gives me storage problems.
Woe.

As I move around a bit DBS and occy health checks are the bane of my working life, was asked to make an appointment for a health interview recently, âno you donât need an appointment, just come down between 9am and 4pmâ, I get there at 3.30pm, âsorry youâre too late, youâll have to come back on Mondayâ. Hour off work wasted.

Woe indeed Health and safety at work again. Got to make sure that all the staff that use it are trained and the MSDS sheets are available next to the chemical and its not stored next to the chlorine as if they mix and become wet a toxic cloud of chlorine gas eminates form the storage area and we are less 1 employee.
You could have saved yourself all the extra typing ⌠if youâd put âsheâ instead of âsomeoneâ at the very beginning.
What you have to understand is that Women can Multi Task and Men canât! . FACT*
This is why your system doesnât work in her way of thinking.
* The ability to watch football or have a beer whilst holding a bottle/glass/can of beer is not deemed as a Multi Tasking Skill by women, just something weâve picked up through evolution.
