😠 The Little Annoyances Of Everyday Life (Part 1)

I struggle to get my head around why future taxpayers should pay for the care for people so that they can leave a chunk of cash to their offspring.

If you have assets then why shouldn’t you have to use it to pay for your care

And before the old “I paid my taxes” line comes out - yes you did but those taxes went to pay for the care of your parents / grand parents

Yeah, but then again you are our resident Tory though.

But that’s the irony - surely as a Tory I should want to keep hold of as much coin as possible

All I am saying is if you can afford to, you should pay for your own care

Or if your kids are that desperate to get hold of your hard earned, they could do something radical like look after you and not put you into care

Ultimately they are going to pay for your care one way or another, be it using the proceeds of the house or paying much higher taxes later.

In fact it will probably be the grandkids that end up paying the lions share of the costs, which is wholly unfair.

I have a client transfer from the mountains tomorrow. 2 hours 20m on average to drive there.
Weather forecast is for 8cm of snow overnight.
I have an 06:15 start.

Great

Dear Sotonians.

I just want to point out that over the next 5 months, you can blame @Cobham-Saint for the fact I will paste endless snow photos.

New heating and Nest system at home, installed three months ago, has failed completely. Too bloody complicated to make sense of it ffs. :rage:

I purchased a Nest Thermostat E and heat link the other day, it wouldn’t connect to the Nest app so I had a replacement sent to me, this one has connected and set up but now it won’t charge on the base station and keeps powering off.

I’m pretty much done with them already.

There’s no need for all that bollocks. When you feel cold, switch the heating on. When you’re warm enough, switch it off. :+1::+1::grin:

Except in our house where Mrs C_S and YoungAdult#1 don’t know where the off switch is or how to turn a thermostat down :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

That NHS Covid advert is a bit reminiscent of those scary public information films.
