In a wordâŚnope.
Sad to see the state of Salisbury Market today.
Times when it was rammed & had 10 year waiting lists for a stall.
Now? Very little considering it was the heart of the City.
Well done nimbies
Reckon Covid and novichok hasnât helped
Had planned to back in to the office on Thursday for the first time since lockdown - mainly for a client meeting and a long lunch and then meet YoungAdult#1 for drinks laterâŚhic!
Desk space / meeting room booked etc.
Client has only gone and got pinged so weâre now doing meeting online.
YoungAdult#1âs research lab are now also all self-isolating until next week.
Have cancelled meeting room and desk and will go back another day.
Itâs too bloody hot to sweat it out with the great unwashed/ non-masked mouth breathers on the trains and tube.
Perhaps this should go on the lifeâs little pleasures thread instead?
Office grade AC is a god send in this weather
And also a disease spreader
True - makes the arrival great, but the journey homeâŚ
At home though Iâve Mrs C_S eating a very large portion of humble pie over the various electric fans I brought back after clearing out Mumâs house just before Xmas: âwhyâd you bring that rubbish back, weâll never use themâ
Ha!
Particularly if youâre a legionnaire apparently
Shopping weighs 20kg.
In a sports holdall.
Iâm gonna negotiate 1km from Victoria coach station to Underground then the undergroundâŚ
Forgot to pack a shoulder strap ffs
Made it.
Almost killed me but back in Essex.
Phew.
Having to shut down my computer and unplug it.
Cant be used because the fan (after making awful noises for over 6 months).
The real annoyance?
We have an IT technician (young adult 1 - closer to 40 than 30) living in the house who since being asked to look at the problem last December, hasnât!
Just biding my time for when he asks me for any kind of favour so I can say fuck off.
Withhold all food and laundry services until he pulls his finger out. Drink all of his beer. Change the wifi code
Really good suggestions, but:
-
He does his own laundry (has done from an early age when his mother told him to do it, because she wasnât going to).
-
He doesnât drink!
-
I donât even know what a wifi code is.
-
We have always made sure the boys (one has got married and buggered off) paid the going rate for their keep, so I have to be careful not to cut off nose to spite face!
I have a long vengeful memory - my time will come!
You sound like my ex-wife.
My laptop fan was making some horrible noises a while back, it was quite old so I thought fuck it, Iâll open it up, turned out some of the fan blades had snapped and were just being churned up whenever it span, took them out with some tweezers and problem solved*.
*Disclaimer: I accept no responsibility if you do what I did and fuck up your computer worse than it is, I may have just got lucky. Proceed with maximum scepticism and/or caution. And make sure the bastard is unplugged/switched off.
We recently got planning permission to add a 9 square metre roof terrace on to our 1 bed flat in Brixton which is great - but the architects are now saying itâll be ÂŁ20-40k to get it done when we were expecting ÂŁ10-20k.
Weâre looking to buy a 3 or 4 bed house in Hackney/Walthamstow/Leytonstone within the year and given how quickly the house prices are going up there itâs probably not worth the effort of getting it done
Another life gripe - had a fifth and final job interview for a role I really want on the 12th and now theyâre saying itâs between me and another candidate but they canât decide.
Itâs been a tortuous 2 weeks (assuming they decide on Monday which is by no means guaranteeed)
Theyâve been watching those home improvement tv shows and see you as one of those young rich professional types, thatâs an extra ÂŁ10k on the price right there
Fingers crossed
The US moving goalposts?
Not a fan of Bezos or Branson but theyâve done more to move on space flight and interest in space exploration than the moribund national space agencies of this world.
Sour grape by the US FAA? Arses
