Statistics donât mean much when youâre angry butâŚwell you know Mrs.MoT has them stacked in her favour these days. I have several friends who have been through this shit and theyâre all still here and most have been clear for several years.

On the subject of fairness, Iâve given up looking for that commodity in nature. A college friend married late in life, in his early 40s, to a widow of his own age. Her husband had died of a heart attack, completely out of the blue, aged 42. She was devastated, and it was an unexpectedly happy time when she married my mate and made a fresh start with him. Three years ago he was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and died aged 58 a year ago last October. She is now in pieces, and her constant theme is the unfairness of it.

Fucking DAB radios!
So weâre having unprecedentedly high air pressure at the moment and itâs frigging with my Sony DAB radio clock alarm.
Being digital, as Iâm sure you know with DAB, the station is either tuned in or itâs not. There is no radio static of the other non-digital bands.
So, this morning my alarm went âoffâ at 5:58am as usual and instead of pumping Radio 5 into my ears it just sits there with a message saying âStation off airâ.
It sat there in fucking total, glorious, all-enveloping, sleep-enhancing silence.
I naturally woke 40 minutes later and, combined with the fog on the fucking Solent, I am now scrambling to get to the island.
Why oh why did the Sony developers not think that if the Radio isnât tuned in they need to replace it with a beep or something?
Cunts.
