It was a lease, I knew that but it doesn’t stop them democratically ceding from mainland China and returning to British status, that is what a large number want (quite possibly the majority), put it to a vote.

A bit like Taiwan? China might allow it in the short term but given HK hasn’t the military muscle of Taiwan I seriously doubt it.

Do you really think Britain would get involved, especially to deflect all the Brexit shit on our doorstep?..oh, wait… :man_facepalming::woman_facepalming:

Taiwan is the legitimate Government of China arguably, I can see the Chinese really pushing for that in the next few years with Trump in, geo politics are far more important than a singular incident, proxy wars, false flags and real agendas are always hidden from the common person.

Good grief- stream of consciousness stuff - it makes no sense. Have you just found the stash of shrooms you mislaid during Glastonbury?? :man_facepalming::woman_facepalming:

Taiwan is arguably the home of the Chinese Government.
The Chinese will pushed harder for total unification with Trump in.
Geo Politics are far more important than a solitary event, think of an action like a chess move.

Syria = Russia = Warm water port in Med.
Crimea annexation = Means warm water port black sea.

What the fuck are you on Baz?

Stream of incoherent consciousness

Scared of a kiss, what a pathetic state it is.

How is Taiwan the legitimate government of China? Is it because the Guomindang were the “good guys” (i.e. US backed) side during the civil war? Neither the Guomindang or Gongchandang have ever won an election in mainland China.

There was a lot more about this in the Polish press.

Did the communists ask for elections after they gained control? You deny history? Why do you think China now are looking at Taiwan after totally and utterly wiping Tibet off the map.

Baz. I’ve done what I can and served you an open goal.
Find more, you’ll love it

Deny history? I’ve stated the exact same thing you have, they did not call elections after they took power by force. My point is that the Nationalists didn’t call elections either after they took power by force. Hence my statement that neither can call themselves the legitimate governments of China.

What do you mean by China is now looking at Taiwan? They have always claimed it, and there have been military tensions, e.g. missiles fired at Taiwan, since the early 90’s. Nothing new is going on.

Well they were forced to flee and couldn’t hold election on the mainland as they would have been exterminated,
China is now looking towards Taiwan and seeing if they can avoid a possible full independence debate, they’ll never allow cessation/breakaway but with Trump in power they have a leader WHO could look the other way.if the trade relations get back on track.
Watch this space.

Umm, they were in power for 37 years before 1949 so had plenty of time to hold elections but as they were corrupt and militaristic there was no chance of that.

They were I agree but look how Taiwan has changed and what it has become.

Agreed, but it took almost 40 years of military rule after 1949 to get there, so althought they are one of the few true democracies in Asia it hasn’t been an easy road.

And so it begins.

Its fun and games but we had every right to do it. That is one overseas territory we’ll never let go lightly, in fact I’d say all the rest can go but we control the Med with it and we won’t let it go lightly.
