📰 The latest news!

Are they blocking the roads ie parking up or are they just driving through London? If it is the former then you would be right, however if it is the latter and they have paid their Ulez and Congestion charge then it is perfectly legal - it wouldn’t take many driving around in the block to cause bedlam.

They were parked up and blocked the roads.

A rozzer wouldn’t let a colleague cross the road through them and was right royally pissed off

They’ve benefitted from great IHT rules - the rest of us don’t so bring them in line - or at least tax fuckers like Clarkson who has admitted he bought land to save on tax.

This is the game.

Look and hate over there, not over here.

There will be another enemy along soon to rant against

Amusingly a lot of farmers miss the EU handout days.

A lot of stuff going on in that area atm. Germany pushing to let Brazilian farmers dump produce into the EU in return for better access for their motor industry
So yeah, farmer blockades here against net zero, Ukraine and niw the Germans…

There’s a lot to unpack there…

Yep.
This is a guide

But outside the bubble there is a lot of shit building up and smoke and mirrors

Fair enough - but it will only be the bloke in the front in trouble - the rest will claim that they couldn’t go anywhere because the road was blocked and they turned their engines off to save the environment etc

And I bet the bloke in front conveniently broke down

Yeah, if they can afford a good lawyer.

You’d hope a qualified mechanic is brought in to verify that if used as a defence.

of course they can - apparently they are all fucking minted

TBF bring along an old banger of tractor and you probably wouldn’t have to wait long before it blew up

Looking at the ones in the BBC article there ain’t an old one in sight. Look pretty new and pricey- and remarkably clean.

Who’s milking the cows though?

Old bangers are easy to fix - having spent a lot of time on deceased Uncle / aunt’s farm as a nipper you learnt pretty quickly how to keep old kit going - hammers, baling twine and wd40 all key tools…

(aged relatives carked it before this IHT malarkey btw :+1:)

I hope someone was dipping the tanks checking for illegal use of red diesel! I wouldn’t hold my breath though. There were hundreds of tractors in convoys, at a standstill, of course they were blocking the road. I seem to remember you were very vocal when the Just Stop Oil people were doing it, applauding the ridiculous prison sentences, yet you are excusing these farmers for doing what amounts to the same thing. . Hypocrisy and double standards.

Just stop oil were acting illegally - there is no doubt about that and they deserved what they got (unless you think bring the M25 to a standstill was OK)

If this demo had been cleared with the police (if they were just driving through, they wouldn’t need it anyway) then they had as much right to be there as the countless Palestinian protests

The two situations are entirely different.

You can’t have it both ways - people love to demand the right to protest, right up to the point where they don’t agree with the protest or the protest interferes with their daily life

Personally Im not the protesting type, I have never really seen the point (or at least I have never been so passionate about a cause to do it so far)

And just as a point of order, I havent said I support the farmers cause - I have no dog in this fight save that I think IHT is a shit tax generally

Different issue but similar tactics - allegedly driving through London, but weren’t really. Stopping traffic and pedestrians (as I mentioned about someone experiencing it first hand in a previous post)

IMHO they should be treated exactly the same

@Nottarf-Krap has a good point about the use of red diesel. I bet most, if any, didn’t bother to drain the tanks and refill with road legal diesel.

Bet the law doesn’t say that they have to take a direct route to their field, they were just going to Bookers in Clapham to get fertilizer, via Westminster

I’ve spent too much time with lawyers today
