Couldn’t give a fuck. He can get duffed up by gripper stebson for all I care.

The clip I posted wasn’t actually from Grange Hill

I know. It wasn’t a tv programme he made. But the point remains. He can get a shiv in the guts and buried under the patio for all I care, despite his cheeky scouse charm.

Telford has more culture than Southampton, it’s run close by Basingstoke and Milton Keynes……

I’m sure “Visit Telford” will be splashing your words all over their copy.

I’ve told this story before, but I’ve been to the US a number of times and a number of times, I’ve gone from Belfast International. My colleagues told me it was easier to go to Dublin, as you can clear US immigration before you get on the plane.

I did some digging into why this was possible at Dublin when it wasn’t elsewhere. Turns out the US was spending shitloads sending Irish blokes back to Ireland when they turned up in the States with nothing but a bag of tools in their luggage.

A mate of mine didn’t take tools, but did spend a number of years living in the the US’s cash-in-hand black economy.

Frequent Flyer trick.
Travelling to the US, request Wheelchair assistance pack a walking stick.
In my defence my Doctor told me to because of my knees.

Anyway, on landing you are wheeled to the front & straight through Customs
Oh, and (as happened in JFK) something goes wrong, the airline throws compensation at you.
I got screwed by a clerk at the transfer desk. Discovered I could sue for $100k, couldn’t get back to start the case so settled for 2 x 1st class airmiles from Dxb to JFK. Enough to cover cost of our honeymoon

@btripz - can you sort @Polski_Filip out with a “Your Blagesty” badge for the Jubilee please? I feel it would be a fitting celebration.

He already has a “King of the Liggers” badge… should we allow badge tautology?

This is a lovely post but one of fairytales, pre clearance is a huge thing in Canada and also other places, Heathrow may be getting it soon, sending back Irish from say New York or Boston is a huge political issue and won’t happen en masse due to the huge Irish lobby.
Different if you were Mexican or Honduran however.

Always march off the plane straight to one of the waiting carts. Hand the driver $20 and hey presto

This is particularly effective in MIami when the gate your plane lands at is usually in a different zip code to customs

Been interacting on Twitter re “importing labour” to solve the UK shortages.

Thing is there are labour shortages everywhere. Obviously many moved on through Covid to other things or were let go and will not go back.

Mrs P_F is a Senior Recruiter for a Tech co here. Before Xmas last year, they offered “post Intern” 1st step roles for Graduates - 520 quid a month in their pockets. They had an endless stream of applicants.

Now? She commissioned an independent report, here in Krakow, rent has risen by 50%, Gas, Electric, Water Internet by 30%, Food by 30% on many staples, Public Transport by 10%. And to rent a single room in the City now costs more than the entry level pay (She had zero applicants in April).

Raise the salary levels? Cannot - recent investment meant they are working to a “Performance Forecast Template” Labour costs were supposed to be reduced (by recruiting more entry level staff to replace higher earners.

At the Airport the salary for an ARMED Security Team member (who must stay certified every 3 months) is 900 quid net. Armed status is after 3 years experience. Starting salary? 600 quid net. And they have to pay for parking 50 quid a month. Guess how many applicants they have had since end of April for 40 open positions? One.

This isn’t going away, it needs Companies to increase costs, but Shareholders rule and demand growth and OpEx reduction.

Something is gonna have to give

Not a political comment so much as a trail of the decisions taken to have reached this point

I grew up with fuck all, I know how hard it can be to scrape out of it, it creates you or breaks you, my thinking is it’s an awful lot harder to make a life now than it ever was, whole systems are broken whether it be voting, opportunity, class, affordability and a whole lot more.
This is a global problem and as you say one that is not going to go away sadly, political reform and a fairer society is needed but what chance do the poorest have when people continuously vote tory?
It simply baffles me that people vote tory, always has and always will.

The system is working perfectly. Just not for the many.
