Ah itās a tricky one isnāt it really. We are not allowed to have sympathy for sex offenders as theyāve done a very heinous crime. I personally do think sentences should be higher for this type of stuff with a lot of work around their offending. However, we are where we are. He got 20 months who knows what the crime was.
In my training we had to discuss this āUnconditional positive regard, a concept developed by the humanistic psychologist Carl Rogers, is the basic acceptance and support of a person regardless of what the person says or does, especially in the context of client-centred therapyā. Anyway. He has been given a sentence, he has completed his sentence, he is now out and should be in a place where he can be monitored appropriately (he should be on the sex offenders list and will have conditions) given his crime. You cannot do that when theyāre living on the streets. So theyāve failed quite a lot to ensure the safety of others alongside not following process.
If Iād ignored process and not placed someone in a safe place in a timely fashion plus deleted a shit load of files (I know she didnāt do that bit personallyā¦) Iād definitely be having to answer some questions and probably struck off. However, in this government you can fail up to your hearts content.
