What he doesn’t understand though is that you reduce the size, you get rid of the “dross” for 1 year and then, thanks to relegation and promotion, the “dross” gets promoted back into the Premier League to replace the “dross” that was relegated.

Also… in any hierarchical system, especially ones where finances and access to resources (better players) are unequal, like in… oh I don’t know, let’s say… Premier League Football, there is always somebody at the bottom.
