You cannot debate showing suppirt for LGBTQ rights with a Religion that holds all forms of it to be Haram.

It is at worst racist to even rant against the likes of Morsy.

Bravo Hugo

Would be interesting to see if Morsy would have a problem if Ipswich were sponsored by Bet365 or similar

There were (obviously) photos of him wearing betting logos when playing for someone else.

You will be shocked to hear it was in the fail

Uhm… The point of wearing or displaying the rainbow colours is not to promote LGBT+ agenda, but to show support for anti-discrimination.

As such, its about promoting basic human rights - to live without fear of discrimination.

Anyone who uses religion as an excuse can fuck off for a start as their record on this is far from clean… and you are hard pushed to find any clause in any gospel that preaches discrimination against homosexuals… they left that for the nutters who wrote the shite at end about armageddon and apocalypse ….

The game remains a haven for ‘real men’ - homophobes and racists - we all know it and do t really do anything about it - how many footballers would feel comfortable confronting homophobic language in the dressing room, let alone come out… how many of us report the racists or homophobics chanting away in the stands?

We all need to do more but especially with those who the kids idolise… and whose wages fans pay…

If a player feels they cant support a simple anti-discriminatory gesture, then they can fuck off IMHO…

Players shouldn’t have a choice, then? And in the interests of tolerance and understanding, if they happen to disagree with the way you personally see it they can fuck off?

can you see an issue here?

You are saying that not all discrimination is equal, at least not when the discrimination is against something you don’t buy into ie religion.

Don’t get me wrong - in Morsy’s case I suspect it is more about a cultural dislike for LGBT than a religious issue but the argument you are putting forward that religious views should be discounted is bullshit and a example of intolerance in itself

What about those who refused to kneel - are they automatic racists

Marc Guehi was censured despite wearing the rainbow armband, because he had added the words “I love Jesus” to it. The reason given for his official censure was that no political messages are permitted on player outfits, as if the LGBT armbands (and the BLM slogans previously used on their clothing as well, for that matter) were not themselves overtly political. They plainly are.

Morsy wasn’t officially censured for refusing to wear the armband at all, incidentally. But there’s no question of double standards here. :unamused:

Ahr the old paradox… but I believe this paradox is only presented by those of religious persuasion that argue that their blind faith in the scribblings of whoever within the last 2000 years is only moral compass by which we should live?

Sorry, but my argument is based on logic not on fantasy.

Thankfully we have laws that govern our rights to live without discrimination - that is what the ‘rainbows’ are defending. Why should those who believe in a the big evil twat in the sky allow their views to take precedence over the defence of our laws?

People are free to believe whatever mumbojumbo they wish, but not to express opinions driven by it that go against fundamental human and legal rights (IMHO)

Yet I guess a load of fans will be happy to go the WC in Saudi in ‘36…. we are I guess a bunch of cunts of convenience

Nope they are or should be Apolitical. Human rights and equality are not issues that should have political bearing - they are social and educational issues

Nope, but I would ask why they felt they could not support a very simple gesture of solidarity with a movement that simply looking to make more people more aware of social and racial prejudices that remain engrained within our society….

Having read Hugo Shekters post and tge replies and some others it would seem that some LGB voices are starting to rail against Rainbow Flags

An unhappiness that their hard won rights are veing taken by TQI “activists” to push a different agenda down the throats of an increasingly anti woke public

A prominent Gay Comedian weighed in to the argument

This doesn’t cover it but shows some disquiet

May cover it

From Wikipedia, opening line…

Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a decentralized political and social movement.

How is refusing to where an armband or a jacket or whatever expressing opinions. Why should gay rights trump religious rights? As long as everyone respects the others rights then we will all rub along just nicely. However, no one should be compelled to endorse something they don’t believe in - I suspect you would tell your employer to fuck off if they insisted you wore an armband with a cross on it at easter

This is how women’s sport has got themselves in such a mess over trans inclusion - they recognised the rights of a group of people to the detriment of another group

The point is that its NOT about gay rights. Its about HUMAN rights. The right to live without fear of discrimination. If someone uses some made up religious nonsense to justify their prejudices then IMHO they should not be given the right to voice that prejudice… its based on made up nonsense so why should it be given any respect? I respect someones right to believe in what they want but not to spread any prejudice based on such illogical and inhuman teachings/made up shit
