The European Union

I think it did too, Bear.

Like I said, I think I’m probably being oversensitive.

How so, fat stuff?

Harsh Fatso. I disagree. I find conversations like this on The Other Place hugely depressing.

Whereas, when I read Unionhotel’s message, I’m just picking up a lot fear from someone who I’m assuming is an older generation. Big difference I reckon. Times have changed, thank god.

Don’t agree with what he’s saying on any level, so great to see a Papsweb critique.

Thought the put downs were nicely original.

Now Barry on the other hand…

Edit: for clarity, my disagreeing with Fatso was for his view on Papsweb, not for his disgust at Unionhotels comments.

Bearsy, you scare me when you go into serious mode.

Don’t want to be a pedant but I’m sure it ends with “az” rather than “ers.” cheers.

I had a think about this overnight, but my first reaction stands. It’s one thing to debate with an avowed racist on a forum. It’s quite another to participate in a forum where a parent of the forum owner comes out and baldly declares his enthusiasm for racism as a solver of all perceived problems.

I’m not going to get into an argument about the horrors that have preceded with views like that once they’ve become endemic.

But equally what I can’t do is let this pass. Out of respect for pap, who has done a wonderful job is setting up this site, and who’s been an excellent and welcoming host, I can’t really get into a row with his own dad. However, out of love and respect for my wife, who’s south Asian and my son who’s (therefore) mixed race, I can no longer be here.

I’ve really enjoyed posting here. Thanks to you all for being such engaging, funny, and quite lovely people (even you, Bazza!).

Furball xx

Thanks Furball, don’t leave though, always a shame when a debate gets reduced.

I think I might be racist too, would that help?

I feel bit guilty. I was finding the idea of pap’s pap coming on here and starting a race war pretty funny, but now bros are getting taken out in friendly fire!

Meh, I go away for eight hours and this is what happens.

Having spent years socialising with the old fella, I don’t really agree with his assessment that he’s a racist. He might think he is. Who knows? Maybe when I disappear off to wherever, he remembers that he’s not talking to a multi-racial mutt and whips the Combat 18 paraphenalia out, or Nazi drapes unfurl from the ceiling and roll to the floor.

If he is a racist, he’s a pretty shit one. He married my old dear for one; her name ain’t Sarah. He’s also missed every opportunity to mould me into someone who cuts eyes into pillowcases. Quite why he took me to Madame Tussauds when we could have started a race war in pre-gentrified Brixton is now beyond me. The three years he spent living in France, speaking French and living like a fucking Frenchman must have been hell.

My suspicion is he’s either being deliberately provocative (he has also claimed to be the “most selfish man in the world” - he isn’t) or at worst, is simply of the mind that when you move to a different culture, you should be prepared to work for it, and within its existing cultural setup. That might be complete bollocks though, and I’m sure he’ll tell me if it is.

I’d like to address Fatso’s point about what this means for the forum. One of the things that many of us didn’t enjoy about the old place was the phenomenon of playing the man instead of the post. For the most part, Fatso plays the post, and does it well. The part where people get called cunts or harbingers of doom for the forum? Not so much. I don’t agree with unionhotel on his points, but can we honestly say the thread is worse for them being made? Racism, whether we liberal elite types consider it or not, is a part of the European Union conundrum. It’s essentially what Farage and co campaigned on, and they got around 4 million votes.

As for the forum itself propagating racist views, it won’t happen while bletch and I are in charge, but at the same time, and I think this thread shows that - we’re trying to be smart enough to view things in context.

Oh it is funny Bear, very funny. People leaving just because one poster admits that he is racist.

Ain’t one side of pap’s family from Bangladesh or something? I should keep better notes. Just thinking it will add a bit of spice at my fictional pap family Christmas Dinner, when old Pete has had one too many, and starts breaking out the UKIP material.

Good post Pap. The comment from unionhotel IMO has been taken out of context.

So.

One thing always missing when one talks of Immigration is Respect. We should Respect the rights of Immigrants to their own beliefs and culture. What often gets forgotten, especially by the “Equality Industry” is that Respect should be two ways.

We see it down here Little Englanders who insist on their rights to wear see through Negligees to the Shopping Mall in Ramadan (Idiots) and we see it in the UK and other areas with communities wishing to impose Sharia Law.

Much of the trouble we now see with Da’eesh is from Europeans who do not Respect the cultures and countries that have given them a home. They leave and should NEVER be allowed back.

Then you get the Poles, who come in and just kind of get on with stuff, opening too many bloody deli’s and mending your plumbing 24x7 at competitive prices (but then get moaned at for taking jobs that the UK doesn’t train people to do anyways)

So. Is it Racist to insist that a Mosque is closed down for preaching hatred? for showing a lack of Respect to the Culture of the Country? Kuwait is this week facing an identical issue. They “avoided cultural conflict” and some idiots blew it up.

Da’eesh are THE single most Racist & Culturally intolerant people in existence, yet the BBC doesn’t want to Disrespect them so calls them IS.

Immigrants in ANY Nation and ANY Culture should Respect the customs Religions and culture of the country they live in. If they don’t they should be kicked out.

The Citizens of a country should Respect the Culture customs and Religions of their Immigrants or they should be jailed.

Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Ramadan Orthodox Christmas & Easter should be celebrsated by everyone.

Oh and of course every one of them should be a Public Holiday

It should be to the eternal SHAME of the entire Race Relations Industry that people like Union Hotel express such fears that the UK could become an Islamic State.

(Mind you that is their declared objective but the War on Islamic expansion is another issue)

Phil, have you not read the ‘things that annoy you’ thread? It’s bad enough when speaking to start a sentence with So, but to actually type it!!! You are making me very angry. :scream:

Of course this is a forum one should aim to create maximum impact or you end up just posting “Hello I’m Here, please upvote me I need the points” garbage like Tokes.

Politics/relegion = internet minefield. Play nicely now people.

Fair do’s pap. Good response. And you’re right, I feel bad about calling your dad a cunt. I’m sure he’s not a cunt. I just had high hopes for this place as being different to the other foitball sites. I’m tired of debating racism or immigration with people on saints boards. It never ends well and people never change their minds. It’s pointless and it makes me angry. I was hoping that this place won’t see these sorry of pointless debates. If I wanted to listen to ill informed nonsense I could post on swf. Nobby finds it funny that verbal has left because just one person admitted to being racist and I said I was considering leaving as well. There’s nothing funny about that. Some people might like to discuss racism on the internet. I’m just very bored of it and just want a board where people can talk about football and bollocks. Otherwise this board is no different to any others, and the rest of them are shit.
