Austin became the first Southampton player since Steve Moran in 1981 to score twice in Europe during Thursday’s 3-0 win against Sparta Prague.
But rather than celebrate with a starting spot up front against Swansea tomorrow, Saints boss Claude Puel is ready to rest him.
Puel said: “I think the decision is not too hard because Charlie played 80 minutes of the game, and it’s important now for recovery and to have a different solution in the match.
“All the players want to play and it’s interesting. All the players are important in the squad.
“I explain at the start of the season to my players that it was important to keep good energy and play many games to have a chance of good results.
