The 2017 Election Thread

To be fair, it’s unlikely to come to that as I am playing to emigrate, but let’s play a game.

What services? Private healthcare, private education, roads paid for by road tax, local services paid for by council tax.

I’d be paying into a Brexit Britain, and they’re planning to cut my income by over £10k per year.

No thanks.

So, the only time I’ve needed the police was when my car got nicked in 2008. Fucking useless they were as well.

I thought roads were paid for by road tax and council tax?

What, Tories are being called Nazi’s, so what’s wrong with calling Labour supporters Jew-haters.

Both are hyperbole that can be wilfully misconstrued.

Is that a serious reply? Are you drunk?

Edit: I’m going to assume joke and go back to a music thread, see if I can find Ted anywhere

A little from column A, a little from column B.

Very true. What a twat! (In a response to QT)

Roads are paid for out of general taxation (national and local), not road tax (itself a misnomer as the tax is on the vehicle). Do you pay for your own police force? If you get run over will you make sure that you’re taken to your private hospital in a private ambulance (actually, do private hospitals even have A&E departments - I genuinely don’t know)? Do you have your own private fire service should your house catch fire? You travel to London by train and may well use public transport within London - where do the subsidies come from that keep all of those running (shite though some of the services may be, with no subsidies they wouldn’t be there at all)?

Another point is that, even if you opt to make private provision for some of these services (health and education, for example), decent public services make a massive difference to society as a whole. This in itself has a major impact on your life, though you may choose to believe otherwise.

Is that what you took from that? I saw @saint-or-sinner trying to draw political and/or rhetorical parallels.

It was your ridiculous demand that we treat Nazi policy as a big tangled ball that one must view in totality, when most historians tend to depict it as a series of factional or individual motivations driving the whole shebang.

There are things that the Nazis did that the Tories are doing. For balance, New Labour also did things like that. We had a Fucking Enabling Act passed by those idiots. I mention this all the time, and you have never had a problem with that assessment when I bore the shit out of all of you. Repeatedly.

If you’ve no problem with me comparing New Labour policy with those of totalitarian regimes, then I can’t see what your issue is when the shoe is on the blue foot, aside from a need to be mindlessly partisan, of course.

This is all very tongue in cheek - for me to take this route Corbyn has to win the election, he has to bring in the high corporation tax and also has to reduce the 45% tax rate, and I have to not move abroad.

However, as someone who paid for my own university education and didn’t get a grant, has private healthcare and doesn’t use state education, has had to buy property at the most difficult time and to be asked to pony up £10k extra per year to live in a post Brexit, shit hole of a country where 52% of the population are racists, is pretty galling.

Honestly, I have to say I rarely read all your posts to the end. They can be quite long and arduous, and frankly I don’t have the time in my life to spend on them, but I haven’t ever seen you call New Labour Nazi’s. Perhaps you can find me an example where you have, but I can’t ever remember you saying that.

With respect to most of your previous posts, @chertsey-saint , some advice from an unlikely source.

I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.

Sorry, where have I attacked you?

Just waiting on you to show me where you have called New Labour Nazi’s.

Woah. Fkn scary how hate speech & ideology is being used on here to demonise minority group like Sarb. Fkn Nazis! There was a whole chapter in Victor Kemplerers book bout just this scenario, this is exactly Nazi behaviour. No wonder they want to nationalise railways, Nazis would have found it much more difficult to organise holocaust if they were reliant on South West Rail.

Sarb in any case ought to be Left Wing Hero! He already pays more tax than the average bro, both in terms of nett sum and as percentage of income! He is kicking a bit about having that tax gap further increase, and that maybe the true tax dodgers are i.e. ppl like me, who could v.easily generate more wealth & tax, if we weren’t so fkn lazy, but once he realises that tokyos will also suffer I’m sure he’ll come round!

13. We demand the nationalization of all trusts.

14. We demand profit-sharing in large industries.

15. We demand a generous increase in old-age pensions.

Sounds more Labour than Tory

You attacked Labour voters in the main.

I’ve never called New Labour Nazis, but I have compared some of their policy, such as the Legislative and Legislatory Reform Bill with Nazi policy. I have also called Tony Blair a terrorist and a war criminal.

Now it has been fun, but the combination of nine hour days and actual campaigning has to take precedence over nurturing your constant need for attention.

I wish you well in your campaign.

Yeah, whatever Sfcsim, come back to us when you’ve got that measly 6 hours up to a whopping 9-hour day plus evening campaigning.

You were the one that waded into the conversation.

The problem is you just don’t understand what the issue is. If SoS had spent his whole time comparing policy rather than half the time just calling them “fucking Nazi’s”, then it wouldn’t be an issue.

SoS wanted to know why people were so offended by being called Nazi’s. I told him. Then you got involved, as you always have to have a fucking opinion, even if as per usual it’s mind-numbingly predictable and dull, filled with half-truths, misinterpretation, hyperbole, hypocrisy and an inability to prove your point.

But that’s what we love about you :lou_wink:

I think we need to call for An Apology here! I’m still FURY bout last time when we couldn’t get pap to apologise for whatever it was he said about whoever it was he said it about. I think about it all the time! He may think we’ve forgot about it, but we haven’t! I remember it all! Pap said something, I forget what, about someone, I forget who, and we had v.good reasons why he should APOLOGISE, although I can’t recall exactly what they were, but he flat out REFUSED, and his justifications for this were v.flimsy, though I’m not sure what they were Exactly.

Never forget! #apologygate2017
