There are some mean looking weapons there…and then one of them seems to have a putter.
This is going to be a long 6 weeks. Mayhem is becoming increasingly hysterical and unhinged. Yesterday she tells us that the stories coming out of Europe regarding her pisspoor attempts at diplomacy and negotiations with Junker on Sunday were,‘gossip and tittle tattle’. Today the nasty Europeans are plotting and scheming to undermine the election on June 8th. Next week, no doubt, we will be informed that evil Putin is behind it all, in an attempt to instal his ‘hard line communist’ friend Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister.
Jeremy Corbyn absolutely nailed it today. May is going to fight this election wrapped in the Union Jack, to distract attention from her government’s economic failure and rundown of public services. She will sell it as Great Britain, with our back’s to the wall, resisting the nasty foreigners. That’s all they have. She has no coherent policies, hence her refusal to debate, and her hiding away from the electorate. Today she was in Bristol, addressing a meeting at a social club on a housing estate. However, residents of the estate were not invited, the audience inside was made up entirely of Conservative party activists. She is terrified of meeting ordinary voters because she knows she wouldn’t be able to answer the sort of questions they would ask. The only people allowed in were Tory members and councillors,( even they had to show photo ID, such is the paranoia)! But it would appear that not everything went according to plan. Some Bristolians, after getting wind of the meeting, turned up outside in an attempt to give the PM an authentic taste of real campaigning. Chanting, “May out, Corbyn in”, they at least made their presence felt. May was hustled out by her minders, without acknowledging them, ran to her car and was whisked away at speed.
Hopefully this is starting to backfire, people will surely see through this charade before long. Appealing to people’s patriotism, making it about ‘us v them’, is no substitute for policies. We are not America, where of course they lap this stuff up. No doubt May has seen how it worked for Trump and believes she could do the same. The Sun, Mail, Express etc, will be doing all they can for the cause, but surely British people are a bit too sophisticated to fall for it.
Corbyn seems to be hitting the right notes, calmly keeping it about policies, out and about meeting people, and in contrast to Mayhem, being seen out and about meeting people, and importantly, answering any questions put to him as honestly as possible. But he has to watch his back. I have every confidence he can handle anything the Tories throw at him, but there is no doubt that there are many prominent people in the labour party, Blair, Mandelson, Campbell and co, even some Labour MPs, who, if push came to shove, would rather have a Tory government led by May, than a Labour government led by Corbyn. That’s how much of a threat his policies are to their cosy, entitled lifestyles. He needs to stand firm. And carry on with the message that people who don’t usually vote should register. There is a potentially untapped 30 odd % there. The vast majority who when you ask them why they don’t vote always reply,“because they are all the fucking same”. He should tell them they were right, but not any more. Now they have an opportunity to vote for a real change in the order of things. No longer ‘all the fucking same’.
Here’s an article on Corbyns willingness to meet and answer questions. Look at the pictures of Corbyn and May in schools. Who do you think has more interest in your children’s futures?
Jeremy Corbyn has one thing Theresa May lacks: a personality https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/may/03/jeremy-corbyn-theresa-may-personality-tories-labour?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
Looking at the picture would anyone even leave her in charge of their children for 10 minutes.
Corbyn to me, or I get the impression is growing in confidence, if he can get some of the middle ground (May is shit scared of conceding any of that hence no live debates) he could or we could get a hung parliament, he couldn’t win could he even?
Bollocks.
On the sauce Bazza?
Just started mush, I tidy it up now, on the old range rider this evening.
Indeed.
But if you click the link to the story in the Indy, it actually makes for quite interesting reading, especially the stuff around tactical voting.
Did anyone catch the doctored lib poster that said winning where? Instead of winning here! Ha ha give that person a beer.
How does the range rider compare to the rabbit?
A new poll puts the Tories on 45% and Labour on 26%. Diane Abbott is said to be delighted that Labour is now in the lead.
Some more recent polls:
SUMMARY: Con 47%, Lab 28%, Lib 8%, UKIP 8%
BY: ICM
SUMMARY: Con 47%, Lab 30%, Lib 10%, UKIP 5%, Green 2%
BY: Panelbase
RANDOM STAT: Jeremy Corbyn’s personal rating as leader was, well, not as good. It was a staggering minus 52, compared to plus 11 for Theresa May.
650 polls that count, nipper
You gonna put your money where your mouth is? Some amazing odds on Labour to win.
The best thing about this election being called now is that when Corbyn loses Labour will be able to get someone in who can be more effective opposition, so the Tories can’t get away with all the shit.
May has luckily saved us an extra 3 years of Tory rule.
So who is voting in their local elections? Interesting how the general election seems to have totally hijacked most of the debate around local issues.
I get to vote for a mayor using the transferable vote system.
What debate there has been seems to orient around how no one wanted a mayor, how they’re being foisted upon us, how expensive they’ll be (lots of comments along the lines of 'snouts in the trough) and how no one knows who the candidates are. I anticipate new lows in terms of turnouts.
If you were going to stove someone’s head in, wouldn’t you go for a wood rather than a putter? I’d change my caddy if I were him!
