absolutely. Was going to post the same but couldn’t spell his name. A very good number 2. Be interesting to see if he’s going there to be number 1
I thought Stek was doing alright - until Fraser returned.
He just seemed unlucky, he didn’t make mistakes but he rarely saved anything, and they didn’t seem to be his fault.
He looked safe, but you wonder about his communication with the defence, or perhaps his positioning, because Fraser improved everything around him when he came back.
And unlucky is not a good trait for a goalkeeper to have.
Once is unlucky, twice is coincidence, sixth time is shite…League Cup v Liverhampton 02/12/2015
I’m being unfair, he was a more than competent backup…
So that’s a new goalie on the agenda, then?
We can’t rely on Gazzaniga going by previous performances.
‘Alright’ being the sum of it though. I just can’t recall him making any saves. He was steady at best and didn’t make any howlers, but at the same time I don’t remember a single effort that had ‘goal’ written all over it that he managed to keep out.
If he is the only player of ours (sort of…you know what I mean) that joins Koeman then I think we can all agree that we are glad it’s him!
I can’t imagine he will be their number 1 though… a club of their history, stature and ‘ambition’ should be trying to prize away the likes of Manuel Neuer or De Gea shouldn’t they?! Or at least that is the impression I get from Twitter…
Gazza’s improved immensely over the past season or two. His main problem is fans not giving him a chance and getting on his back before he’s even made a save. The automatic reaction is “Oh no! Not Gazza! He’ll definitely make a howler!”, but it should be “Yay! Gazza! Come on son, show us how you’ve improved!”
Indeed @TheInsipidRhea much the same can be said of Yoshida, a more than competent defensive backup but the amount of wailing and gnashing that occurs when he is selected is disproportionate.
Over the past few seasons, my heart has fucking sank whenever either Boruc or Forster wasn’t available. The best thing you can say for Steks is that I felt like we had a chance of winning when he played, whereas I always thought we had a chance of fucking it up for stupid reasons when Davis or Gazza were in goal for us.
I haven’t seen Gazza play much over the last couple of seasons, on account of him not being selected much. I’d still be anxious if he was in between the sticks at Premier League level, but I am more than happy to be proved wrong.

i’m gonna save this unlikely statement for the corbyn+brexit threads.
I didn’t see any training photos of VVD on the official site. It could be nothing of course but then again now that he only has about 5 years and 46 weeks left on his new contract, should we be worried about this?
apparently he’s just bought a house and was taking one of his personal/house moving days. You get three of them a year.
The house isn’t in Liverpool by any chance is it?
VvD still on holiday because Euros. Clasie injured so not called up to Dutch team for it, hence his presence…
and the fact that Holland didn’t qualify.
L’Equipe say #saintsfc in talks to sign Adam Nagy (pronounced Nodge). Starred for #hun at #EURO2016
Nagy is a really interesting player. I really like him. Dynamic CM, tackles A LOT, has elastic quality to dribbles/movements. #saintsfc
From what I’ve seen of him playing for Hungary, he’d be an excellent signing. In fact, I remember thinking exactly that whilst watching one of their matches.
Watford have apparently rejected a £37.5m bid for Ighalo from China. They’re fucking nuts (both the Chinese and Watford)
Fuck me, Les would have been swatting up on his Mandarin and heading for Heathrow by now.
Crazy money but I read that Ighalo rejected the idea of moving to China rather than Watford rejecting it out of hand. If the player rejects terms and refuses the move then surely the only thing Watford can do is reject the offer. Otherwise, as you say, they’d snap their hand off! Did he even score in the second half of the season? Madness
