For a government needing small wins - why? Just why?
I can understand other more worthy souls should be saved, but this was such an easy PR win.
Now they are going to leave a former Marine behind enemy lines.

The issue is that he wanted to fly 100 animals out of Afghanistan on a flight he chartered and that was rightly blocked because people should be prioritised, given the limited capacity. He wont leave without the animals - his choice.
I would like to know how he can justify flying out his donkeys and dogs, when he could turn over that space to a couple of hundred desperate people
As for a PR win - imagine the reaction is the UK govt sanctioned this - they would get eviscerated by the press - there would be front page pictures of children left behind who could have taken the animals place on the plane

And this is the issue now, this is the second time in a week where a Twitter user has purposely misled through misinformation, causing people to get frothy as they haven’t checked all the ins and outs.
Funny that - that picture of the plane that he posted was in fact a Norwegian govt flight. He “forgot” to mention that fact
It’s winding me up properly, the Government are inept and shit enough as it is without the bullshittery of people making stuff up to make them look bad.
The animals were to be held in the hold, that bit humans do not sit in. The seats were to be filled with him, his staff and 100 other people picked by the foreign office. The plane was also due to fly in medical supplies.

Looks like it is less about space on the plane or the plane being able to fly in, but more about logistics at the gate i.e. getting his animals to the airport, through the crowds, past the US who are operating the airport and onto the plane in time for the limited slot that the plane can be on the ground.
