I think the LONG TERM plan is that we will keep improving little by little, become well known as a consistently-in-Europe team, get lucky one year to pounce on a ‘big team’ fuck up and make it into the Champions League, and then slowly change perceptions from being ‘The Destination Club for Young Talent to Get into the Shop Window’ to ‘The Destination Club for Players Who Want Regular European Football and the Chance to Win Trophies’.
We’ll never be able to compete with the big guns, but we may well be able to compete with the slightly smaller guns and actually become the club that teams like Everton think they are.
If you don’t like that plan then that’s your prerogative, but it doesn’t make it the wrong business model just because you don’t like it - you can see that can’t you? As far as I know you’re not at the top of the game when it comes to developing multi-million pound businesses.
No far from it it is one that is in tandem with the current one, for us to improve we need better players and for that to happen we’ll need to spend money, we have money to spend but don’t spend it.
I’ll pull the pin right there, as it stands Everton are a rival of sorts (note their position from their manager and who that manager is) but when they get their new stadium massive new investment will take place.
Look at Spurs and the usual suspects, we’ll never be like them and how can we?
I’m not convinced we’re sitting on a Massive Pot Of Gold tbh. The profits in the Accounts seem quite Modest. I think I read that we’re still taking out Cash Flow loans.
Besides, you can only spend it once. Think Les Reed has that tattoo’d on his ballsack srs.
I’ll be honest mate I don’t need to as for the last 5 years our net spend is 6.6 Million, how much alone do they get from the PL, sponsorship and club revenue?
Jesus Baz it’s like debating with a brick wall. You won’t be swayed no matter what evidence is presented to you so why don’t you just go scream in your shed until you feel better?
You missed the section in the strategic plan that required employees to be paid with the magic beans that are being grown behind the Markus Lieberr Pavillion at Staplewood.
I’ve provided evidence and examples. The proof will be in the pudding when VVD and Betrand roll out next August in Saints kits…
What evidence? Is that net spend figure just transfers? You are aware that wages have to come out of the tv money (approx 80% iirc)? Last year was the first year the accounts have shown a profit of any kind since 2009.
We have improved for the last 6 years so the evidence would suggest it is possible.
Will it happen every year? Of course not. Is anyone suggesting that it is possible to better each season? How did Chelsea with all their millions do last year?
Chelsea have been doing ok I believe since Abramovich has spent over a billion on them, different model again but money matters and it would be foolish to say it isn’t the biggest factor in success, not hard work or a huge fan base or even an academy, money beats them all.
It easily beats the system. I hate it but that’s doesn’t make it less true.
The ‘point’ which your ramble eventually got to was:
we have money to spend but don’t spend it.
My point was, yes we do.
In the ramble you may have missed it so I’ll spell it out. We can’t retain our best players without money so can we improve?

You really are shouting at clouds.

Err no I have reiterated it many times, under this current system this is as far as the League goes as good as it gets, we’ll certainly won’t get higher than a 6th as the players that got us there will go in the summer to larger clubs as they pay the wages.
Kruger hasn’t specifically laid out aims and ambitions and used elastic terms and statements.
